It was announced on the BBC London news tonight that the Mayor of London has acceded to the wishes of Muslims in London to grant millions of pounds to assist in the security of Mosques. No doubt as a result of the attack on two Mosques in Christchurch. Whilst it would be abhorrent for a similar attack on any place of worship in the UK it would be irresponsible to ignore that particular threat. That is a given.
Does any one believe the Muslim Council of Great Britain will actually meet any security measures suggested half way if their security is to be subsidised by Londoners?
It would be horribly ironic should a 'being' enter a Mosque disguised head to foot in a Burka carrying a couple of MAC 10 or Scorpion miniature under their garb and perpetrate a similar massacre. Will Muslim women be allowed to continue to wear this hideous dress or,indeed, subject themselves to a strict body search when entering a Mosque? If not. So called increased security will be a sham.

You could indeed, Spath - but at least CCTV would reveal who's carrying it.
So you want to ban the burqa but not the Hijab?
Spath, you introduced the hijab into the discussion. Why I have no idea. The OP talks about the burka which conceals the identity of the wearer.
I don't care what anyone wears as long as I can see their face.
so you don't mind shootouts as long as you know who the gunman or woman is, Naomi?

How is that different to a shoot out resulting in the shooter then turning the gun on themselves?

The principle of security is exactly that, security. so why is a nuns gown acceptable over a burqa when both could conceal a MAC 10 or Scorpion miniature?

You're worried about justice, not security.
Dear Lord, Spath, have a day off would ya.
well that's just rude lol
My point is valid i think, so there is no need for rudeness.
Does anyone know what Spath is talking about? If you do, please share.
my point is, if people are warped enough to shoot up a mosque, they will do that with their face covered or not.

They would hide the guns under the gown, not the face section.

So, this could be done in a nuns gown, just like a burqa.

so why is one OK and one not?

Because of the face

my point is, they'll still shoot up the joint with their face out, it's not that much of a defining factor.
Spath, //my point is, if people are warped enough to shoot up a mosque, they will do that with their face covered or not. //

Take a breather. If a face is covered its owner cannot be identified. If it's uncovered its owner can be identified. Is that clearer?
Example, the recent christchurch shooting, the man was wearing army clothing with an army helmet. And retro is using this to suggest banning the burka. Just ridiculousness.

Maybe if there was less far right loonies promoting some unidentified war and defence against islam this crap wouldn't happen at all.

Blaming it on attire? *** hell.
And people can tell a lot from from facial expressions!
spath, //retro is using this to suggest banning the burka.//

No he isn't. He's asking if it should be banned in order to facilitate identification.
ummmm
Dear Lord, Spath, have a day off would ya.

Doesn't he have every day off?
and my point is.. what benefit would that have when it's not people in burkas we need to watch out for, it's far right loonies who take it upon themselves to, not commit violence for their god, but for their country. Isn't that even worse? Some patriotism to the max. I'm not worried about these people wearing burqas i'm worried about these people having access to the internet, guns, and mosques. Not face coverings. Think about the real issue.
People need to learn how to have a discussion about a topic without being an antagonist.
Spath //when it's not people in burkas we need to watch out for//

It’s not unknown for Islamic criminals to hide under burkas spath – and what makes you think they don’t have equal access to guns and the internet? You think about the real issue.
Well it would have been nice for New Zeland to ban burkas then this Christchurch shooting would have never happened would it??
Oh.. no it would have.
Why would an islamic criminal blow up their place of worship Naomi?
//Why would an islamic criminal blow up their place of worship Naomi? //

He wouldn't - but he'd blow up many other things - as we know.
