Sadiq Khans Mosque Security Pledge
It was announced on the BBC London news tonight that the Mayor of London has acceded to the wishes of Muslims in London to grant millions of pounds to assist in the security of Mosques. No doubt as a result of the attack on two Mosques in Christchurch. Whilst it would be abhorrent for a similar attack on any place of worship in the UK it would be irresponsible to ignore that particular threat. That is a given.
Does any one believe the Muslim Council of Great Britain will actually meet any security measures suggested half way if their security is to be subsidised by Londoners?
It would be horribly ironic should a 'being' enter a Mosque disguised head to foot in a Burka carrying a couple of MAC 10 or Scorpion miniature under their garb and perpetrate a similar massacre. Will Muslim women be allowed to continue to wear this hideous dress or,indeed, subject themselves to a strict body search when entering a Mosque? If not. So called increased security will be a sham.

Odd? Aberrant? Disgusting?
Well, it certainly meets the standard of "diverse", doesn't it?
But is it it relevant? Yes. Many of Britain's Muslims come from these rural ignorant Pakistanis backwaters and these communities are resupplied constantly because of the tradition of cousin marriage and the allowance of marriage visas after Jack Straw's repeal of the primary purpose law.
The rise in the Muslim population in Britain will be very bad for all women. Muslim women will suffer as they always have under the Sharia. And non-Muslim women will suffer as they always have at the hands of Muslim men.

Naomi, no
"I see the logic, and would suggest a further extension. Since more people are killed by vehicle bombs than by by individuals dressed as fundamental believers, we should ban cars, vans and trucks. "
This point was.. more people are killed by vehicle bombs, and the recent Westminster drive down, not to mention the car that ploughed into the houses of parliament recently, it seems vehicles are more of a danger than burkas.

spath, seek help from ....//themselves, authorities, or human rights? //
You really don't understand how oppressed those women are, spath. They are ruled by the men in their lives - totally. beyond their immediate circle they have no free access to the outside world, and no understanding of civil law or human rights. All they know is the sharia courts (which operate in this country) which is almost every case will rule in favour of the man and his right to control. Are you happy to facilitate that?

//Spath, the burka is not simply a security risk though is it? Do you actually know why women wear it?//
On the Day of Judgment Spath will have a reasonable plea in mitigation, Naomi. That is to say invincible ignorance.
There is nothing you or I can say to him which he will even attempt to understand.

"Many of these women, both in strictly Islamic countries and in Western countries, have insisted to countless reporters that wearing a full covering is their choice and their right
Many women also say that the hijab isn't a tool of subjugation at all, but rather a means for equality. Their reasoning for this is that in public, they aren't judged on their appearance. They are free from unwelcome male advances and liberated from objectifying leers. Naomi Wolf, writer of "The Beauty Myth," commented in an editorial for the Sydney Morning Herald that these women were far from sexually repressed; they just kept their sexual appeal under wraps in a way that made it more special within the bonds of marriage.
Another reason women say they continue to wear the veil is for purposes of group identity. It's a badge of honor and solidarity in a world full of negative opinions about Islam. Some women have suggested that if countries like France were to ban the veil, it would only cause more women to wear it in defiance"
Many reasons Noami. Some because they are forced to, some because they intemperate religious texts as telling them to cover their faces, some so they're not judged.
