It was announced on the BBC London news tonight that the Mayor of London has acceded to the wishes of Muslims in London to grant millions of pounds to assist in the security of Mosques. No doubt as a result of the attack on two Mosques in Christchurch. Whilst it would be abhorrent for a similar attack on any place of worship in the UK it would be irresponsible to ignore that particular threat. That is a given.
Does any one believe the Muslim Council of Great Britain will actually meet any security measures suggested half way if their security is to be subsidised by Londoners?
It would be horribly ironic should a 'being' enter a Mosque disguised head to foot in a Burka carrying a couple of MAC 10 or Scorpion miniature under their garb and perpetrate a similar massacre. Will Muslim women be allowed to continue to wear this hideous dress or,indeed, subject themselves to a strict body search when entering a Mosque? If not. So called increased security will be a sham.

"You mean like saying things like this? "

What i said was justified, it was in response to something said about me.

Mr Javid said
/// 'I know many Muslim communities are feeling vulnerable and anxious. But they should seek comfort from knowing we are doing everything to tackle hate and extremism ///

Mrs May and her government should be showing as much concern with the almost daily stabbings and murders that are happening in our own capital instead of what has happened on the other side of the world, much as it was a terrible attack by a lone nutter.
This thread is about UK mosque security.
your article is on topic though. An interesting skim i'll give it a further read.
Of course, some preached in the street every Friday didn't they Mr Hamza?

Very Good point ag
Finsbury Park Mosque. Hookhands given a token ban to enter said mosque preaches in the streets outside to hundreds. A target rich Environment whereby a Burqa clad nutter doesn't have to go through a security arch whilst innocently going about his 'normal' business
Precisely,retro..
So you agree on the security arch point? That way, not only is it a justified reason for a stop and search but anyone can go through one, burka or not
Be very nice if we could get you back into your gardening trade, Spath? Where did it all go wrong?

(My offer is still open)

Odd that men are often more supportive of the burka than women. Never a thought about the ladies condemned to live a life of confinement and separation from society.
forcing someone to take off a niqab or a burka (both face coverings) would be oppression. If a lady chooses to take it off, then i'm in full support and would be happy to socially protect her but i'd do the exact same if they didn't want to take it off.

It's all well and good saying that, but i'm not in support of the burka, at all. I'm in support of a person being able to wear what they wish, and for a religion to go about it's practise wearing what they like. Just like any other religion. I'm in support for equity.

Not "condemned", Naomi: freely chosen.

And - wait for it - "liberating" and "empowering".

You're not really keeping up, are you?
Tut! Silly me.
Some Muslim women don't wear them at all. Some Muslim women choose to wear them, then some Muslim women are forced to wear them by their partners or those around them.

Either way, a ban would be blessed as oppression

Why would anybody want women in burkas, or men who want to have their women in burkas in the UK?

I suppose "diversity is our strength" may be a convincing answer to some. But what do people with normal human decency feel?
the women who want to wear the burkas, should have every right to.
And those who don't want to wear them but are forced to, what about them?
They should seek help because they're obviously in a vulnerable position.
"Why would anybody want women in burkas, or men who want to have their women in burkas in the UK?"

I didn't realise the question was on the immigration paperwork, or that we dragged people here against their will.

In many domestic abuse cases in UK, females were told they should wear a bag over their heads as they were so ugly, but this fell out of fashion when it became clear someone else tried it first.

The way to change a culture is to show there are better ways to do something, such as the BBC programme last night about women of Pakistani origin marrying first cousins. The alternative is to criticise and condemn out of hand, which simply leads to closing ranks and unpleasant activities going good underground and secret.
