It would seem so AOG. Bet he had a great time and will brag about it to all his pals.
Absolutely disgraceful and proves the Law is an Ass!

Maggiebee, your comment is just as disgraceful. Males can be just as distressed at unsolicited sex as Females.
The 14 year old boy kind of took advantage of a drunk lady who wasn't aware of his age. That could be considered rape.
Not sure he will be bragging over that.

Sometimes it is difficult to know a 14 year old is not over 16, generally more so with girls as they have the advantage of slap but boys too.

I cannot see enough information in this report to make an informed decision one way or another. She was tried and a JURY found her not guilty. So that is good enough for me to accept there are other facts I dont have to hand.
That's an interesting point Spath. A couple of years older and yes he could well have found himself in the dock.

What an odd world we live in.
Incorrect. The boy was on a couch and she got on top of him.

"

Some 14 year olds have beards
"The boy was on a couch and she got on top of him."

But he willingly slept with her knowing she was drunk = not full consent.

He is unable to give consent due to his age..

So they basically raped eachother.
Yes, I did say boys too.
This was the son of a friend, she should have been aware of his age. She was drunk, sexually assaulted him under the blanket then got on top of him. In my book that is taking advantage of a minor who was possibly also under the influence of alcohol. If this had been a male adult with the daughter of friend the outcome would have been very different.
xenoblast. to arrive at your 'verdict' you must have access to all the facts presented at Court. Can you point me to them so I can make an informed conclusion please?
It would, i agree
yep, swap the woman for a man and the boy for a girl and it's 10 years in the slammer. No idea why this isn't taken as seriously. Disturbed by Maggie's comment mind.
It does seem to be a perverse verdict *but* as YMB says, the jury were given all the facts and we only have a newspaper report on which to base our opinions.
Disturbed but perhaps knowing it's likely to be so.

Different genders ought not be treated differently under the law; but I know when I was a teenager I'd have given a lot for some of the older women I knew to try it. (But I'd have had the sense, and would have been gentlemanly enough, not to tell.)
It was a jury verdict so nothing wrong with the law.
yes, the law is the law aint no two ways around it.
//It was a jury verdict so nothing wrong with the law.//

many would question their conclusion and ponder would the verdict have been different if the accused had been male and the victim female. That is the subject of the OP.
the law itself is not sexist, those imposing it should be the ones considered sexist. However, the jury in this instance felt the party was not guilty. I'm sure that jury wasn't full of only males or only females.
All the information be damned. She mounted him after arousing him.
