practically from the moment of their formation, the Tunisian government have been trying to close down Association Shams, even threatening them with Sharia law earlier this year. during all that time the chorus of disapproval from outside Tunisia (just google "LGBT in Tunisia" to get a flavour of how much) has been met by the Tunisian government with a refusal to even engage with its critics. For even longer the international community has supported the repeal of Article 230, again to no avail.

we as the global village can protest all we like. it won't change anything, any more than protests about violence in Sudan has made any difference to the continued violence, any more than international outrage did not stop the genocide of millions in Rwanda.
