I certainly recognise that speech. It sounds very similar to a highly praised speech attributed to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. This speech was denied and snopes said it was a HOAX. It went viral. It is strange no one turned a hair when it was circulated but then it wasn't attributed to POTUS was it? //: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT....

And that same rule of thumb should apply here too
He's on a roll, today, Retro.

/// Rockrose, Trump is not complaining about the USA. ///

Agree, he wants America to be great again, pity our politicians don't want to bring 'Great' back into Britain.
If you have the right to vote you have the right to criticise the government.
Naomi, AOG is inferring that the women in question are not true Americans because their parents are immigrants, but Trump is also a product of immigrants
Naomi - // No it isn't. These people just happen to have brown skin. //

The inference being, that the President is an all-inclusive racist, he will be offensive to anyone, regardless of their ethnicity, conveniently skating over their birthplace and citizenship in the process.

It simply underlines - again - that President Trump's access to, and fervent use of social media, shows him up for what he is - an ignorant racist blow-hard bully.

His equivalent is the terminally stupid redneck who mouths off in his local bar every night, and is largely ignored.

The problem is, this terminally stupid redneck has access to the world to spew out his his vile opinions, and he is unfortunately, the elected leader of the U..A.
AH, //The inference being, that the President is an all-inclusive racist, he will be offensive to anyone, regardless of their ethnicity, conveniently skating over their birthplace and citizenship in the process.//

The ‘inference’ is in your own head. I don’t doubt he’d say it to anyone who complains about the US, but that doesn’t make him racist. It makes him patriotic and honest.

//His equivalent is the terminally stupid redneck who mouths off in his local bar every night, and is largely ignored.//

Haha! Some stupid redneck! And you’re not ignoring him, are you. You never do. ;o)
"patriotic and honest. "

AKA, offensive and racist LOL.

/// and he is unfortunately, the elected leader of the U..A. ///

Why you chose to leave out the letter S is anyone's guess.

But apart from that whether you or your fellow lefties like it or not he is the elected leader of the USA, so the majority of the American people being black, dark skinned or white, voted him as their chosen leader, and he has a very good chance at being re-elected for a second term.
Naomi - // The ‘inference’ is in your own head. I don’t doubt he’d say it to anyone who complains about the US, but that doesn’t make him racist. //

I don't doubt it either.

But being offensive to someone on the basis of their ethnicity is racist - and trying to use the notion that the President is an equal opportunities racist as a defence is frankly not going to fly.

A simple typo - we all make them, including you. As a matter of courtesy I don't pick up typos, including yours, in my responses, maybe you could think about doing the same.

// But apart from that whether you or your fellow lefties like it or not he is the elected leader of the USA, so the majority of the American people being black, dark skinned or white, voted him as their chosen leader, and he has a very good chance at being re-elected for a second term. //

As I have said times without number, I am not a 'lefty', so I do not have 'fellow lefties' and yes thank you, I don't need the blindingly obvious explained to me.
If someone came to your house, didn't like the curtains, nor the carpets, not to mention the 3 piece suite. When they said they didn't like the way you made the tea, you could be forgiven for telling them, politely, they might prefer their own house.
Politics Live generally have a brown, anti-British, socialist, meeja studies graduate. While it's very kind of them to tell us how to run the country, it gets wearing to hear how awful our ancestors were and what a carp country Britain is today.
AH, //But being offensive to someone on the basis of their ethnicity is racist //

If they choose to take offence that's up to them. Regardless of ethnicity, he said what needed saying. If you're not happy you're at liberty to go somewhere else... and that's fair enough. I agree with him.
Actually if anyone considers the tweet offensive and racist, then it makes it exactly that. Cmon.. we know this people!! we know this!

In your position as AB's expert on racism, does the same apply if one who is not white, happens to be offensive to someone who happens to be white?
spath, //Actually if anyone considers the tweet offensive and racist, then it makes it exactly that. Cmon.. we know this people!! we know this! //

Don't be ridiculous. That attitude gives anyone carte blanche to shut everyone else up.

If it does or not, that is how it be.
Much obliged for BA Mr AOG. The credit goes to the anonymous author of that quote. :-)

First of all, I am not 'AB's expert on racism', as you like to refer to me.

Second of all - the fact that you ask that question underlines yet again, regardless of your denials, that you do not grasp the concept of racism, or understand what it actually means.
