He served in the Army for ten years, rising to the rank of Captain and undertaking two tours of active service in Afghanistan. He continues to work in support of his fellow servicemen, promoting support for wounded men and women as they adapt to life post-injury.

He did not do minimal conscripted service in the RAF after hostilities had ended.

Why should they? The couple are where they are by virtue of an accident of birth, and a marriage, that hardly counts as compelling reasons why they should simply abandon their family and shuffle off into obscurity because a national newspaper has its claws into them.

They see themselves as being able to highlight good causes, and do some good in he world, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Their use of private transport while talking about conservation is, in my view, misjudged, but if it's not that, it will be something else - the Royals irritate someone somewhere just by breathing, so I am sure they are used to ignoring all that by now.
