And the parents should be ashamed, in fact one such mother was just on GMTV , her dress was nearly around her thighs.
Just wear your uniform because when you eventually enter the work force, there's rules to be adhered to that you'll have to follow!

I think girls wearing trousers as part of their school uniform is a sensible idea. It's nearly impossible to enforce a skirt length - think of the outrage if girls were made to kneel down to check if the skirt touched the floor as was the practice. It would have been much more sensible if this schools head had kept gender out of the equation.

Bit like parliament.
Teacake, //( not to mention potentially safer)???? how?//

I’m guessing you’re male.
Looks like your doing a lot of guessing. HOW?
If you were a woman you’d know. Ever tried walking upstairs in a short skirt?
There's millions of girls all over the world walking upstairs in short skirts, since when did it suddenly become unsafe. ??
Irrelevant. Have you ever tried it?
Never heard of 'upskirting' teacake?
No ummmm what's that mean. n24 are you talking the Victorian era?
The Victorians didn't wear short skirts, teacake.
You mean they walked up them stairs with long dresses on. wow! that's not very safe.
Oh dear ...
Upskirting...

The longer the skirt the harder it is to do without the victims knowledge.
At the school that I went to in the 1940s our skirts had to be 3ins above the knee. I don't remember any comments or objections back then.
We should ban all skirts then?
Make all the extra excuses you like, the school have told us their alleged reason, transgenders.
Why don't they just let the transgenders wear whatever they feel right in? Every other pupil will know who they are anyway.
Spicerack, if that's to me, I didn't suggest banning all skirts - simply that trousers are more practical.

One major difference stands out here, when we were at school the teachers and Head said something, you did it, there was no thoughts of demonstrating against rules, any rules, I'm afraid young people now are in for a rude awakening when they leave school and start work
Well, you said a bit more than that, Naomi. You said they were dangerous. If they're dangerous in that school, they're dangerous in every school. And out of school.
Spicerack, what I actually said was trousers are potentially safer than short skirts .... and they are.
Work rules seem to have been relaxed somewhat over the years.
