Aaron Campbell the person who killed Alesha MacPhail, has had his sentence reduced by three years. It is because he was only sixteen when he killed her.

After what he did I don't think it should have been.

It's still a minimum and at his age spending that much time in prison means he probably won't be fit for release.
It most certainly shouldn't have imo, the original sentence should have been whole life.

I feel so sorry for her family.
put these kind of animals to death, no question
"As the trial judge had observed - 'whether (the appellant) will ever be released will be for others to determine, but as matters stand a lot of work will have to be done to change (the appellant) before that could be considered - it may even be impossible'."

^^My guess is that it will be impossible.
Pumpjack...that isn't an option though, is it?!
Should never be released. That poor wee lass had her life cut short at the hands of a sadist, don't care how old he was.

I think you are right Ummmm.
In my opinion it shouldn't have been reduced but it isn't my opinion that counts.

There might be a reason, Mamy. Maybe it will stop anymore appeals. He's had it reduced once so very unlikely it will ever be reduced further.

After 24 years he'll be institutionalised.
I hope they throw away the key.
I expect, or hope, it was only a technicality that led to the reduction in minimum sentence. In practice it's hard to see someone so psychotic ever in danger of being released.
The circumstances should have been already taken into consideration at the time of sentencing.
Sickening beyond belief what he did to a little six year old child and at 16 he bloody well knew what he was doing and the 27 year sentence should have stuck. However 24 years will still seem a very long time to him. Bet he was hoping to get a bigger reduction. Monsters do walk amongst us.
No way I just wish his sentence should have been life without parole. Worst case scenario he can apply for parole at age 40 and he gets it he can start his life again however the same can't be said of his innocent victim
