We've heard a lot recently about Christmas festivities being cancelled or toned down because they might offend certain religions. Well where is the Queen on this? This is a Christian country. She is the head of the Church of England. Defender of the Faith. Why isn't the Queen getting involved in that capacity? Oh I know. If she gets involved, she might offend other religions. Defender of The Faith? It's just a joke title then eh? We can't have anyone upsetting the Queen can we?

I can understand where your coming from, but these days, the Queen does what Mr Blair tells her, during the reign of this goverment, she's had a couple of chances to dispel Parliament, but left it. Tony Blair is George Bushes poodle, and the Queen is Tony Blairs, and we all know his stance on religion, plus he's an ardent anti-monarchist, so the Queen is treading on eggshells.
She isn't just queen of British Christians. She is the sovereign of Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jedi Warriors etc etc. (Not just Britons, either; she is still queen of Australia and other far-flung lands.) Why on earth would she want to offend her subjects?
If you the serious press earlier this week (certainly in The Telegraph) there was a very prominent report of The Queen making a speech to the Christian Synod on the values of Christianity. She has always been very careful to tread an uncontroversial path and not involve herself in politics. She may be Head of State but her powers are in fact very limited, and compared with other members of the royal family I think she treads a difficult tightrope extremely effectively. How many of us are able to keep our feelings to ourselves as she does when we have been angry or outraged by public events?.
perhaps she doesn't read the Daily Mail.

In this instance, '10' is right, she is head ONLY of the Church of England. I am not Christian, but its a case of 'when in Rome', or at least, should be.

yup Our liege lady, Elizabeth is four square behind the proddy dogs - she is head of their church after all, or Supreme Governor which is almost the same thing.

Christmas trees, christmas pud, Xmas Cards, Top of the pops, If it is in the book of common prayer, it is gonna be all there at Christmas !

Maybe its because the queen's sensible enough not to believe the latest media driven non story.
