Oh, my birthday :)
As I said before the issue with Labour is the MPs don’t want one before Brexit.
I think many feel the opportunity is there to ditch Corbyn. So why would they want to go into battle with him when they could wait.
It might be frustrating for everyone else but perfectly understandable.
Corbyn wont agree to an election because he knows he is going to lose. The Lib-Dems dont trust him(probably due to his past friendship with both IRA and Hamas terrorists) and the SNP would work with him if he offered them a new Scottish referendum(which he wont),so they dont trust him either.Corbyn is like a millstone round the Labour Partys neck. Why they dont dump him i will never know.
A General Election ain't gonna solve anything!
It’s perfectly sensible not to want an election because you think you might lose. It’s awkward for Labour because they can’t admit it but then no party will ever admit such a thing. But ask most Labour MPs off the record and they are perfectly open about it.
Yes it will. A Tory majority, purged of the rats, will see Brexit sail through.

sharon, it will if there is a majority, the PM can then get things done.
But will it "sail through" and "get things done" based on the rubbish deal?
Nonsense,Jackdaw,if the Labour Party were to get rid of old Steptoe then i reckon the Lib-Dems and the SNP would join Labour in a coalition and might get a wee majority.Wishful thinking on my part,i know.
An election is needed bit it isn’t the best way to solve the Brexit issue.
Anyone who in any case thinks passing this deal will resolve Brexit is not correct. Most people don’t seem to realise that the leaving date merely solves the legal state of the UK in relation to the EU. And triggers the interim period when the terms of the withdraw agreement are enacted. It does NOT deal with trade or the UK’s future political relationship with the EU.
And exactly the same would be true of a no deal Brexit with the exception of the bit about “interim period”
The Tories are wanting a later date than the SNP and Lib Dems. The Tories are wanting the 12th but the SNP and Lib Dems are after the 9th.
The fly in the ointment is the Brexit party. They could split the Leave vote and let the opposition come up through the middle. To safeguard Brexit they should not field any candidates.
Seems odd wanting the 9th instead of the 12th have got their calendars in a mess or do they know something we dont?
Without the Lib dems and the SNP Corbyn cant win a vote.
Thursdays are traditionally the day that UK elections are held.

JD, don't worry Bojo will do a deal with Farage so he only stands in seats with EUSSRphiles.
To achieve a two thirds majority vote Labour does not or should not need votes from any other party.
ich, depends on how many Labour members vote for it.
443 votes are needed. There are 310-odd Tories and ex-Tories so that leaves only another 130-40 votes needed. He would thus need “help” if about 100 Labour MPs out of 245 failed to back him. I’d call they not so much help as mortal embarrassment.
Supposedly there aren’t 100 Labour MPs who WOULD back him.
Anyway, the government has rejected the Dec 9 idea because “we thought of our idea first”
Hmmm ...
