I said a few days ago that there was no panic buying in my home city of Stoke.
At the time of posting, I didn't perceive any. Shops appeared well stocked, plenty of toilet rolls etc although a bit low in places. Today have been to my local Morrisons. Empty shelves...no bread, no milk, no baby stuff, no Morrisons own brand tin products, no bleach etc.
Then went to B&M, Wilkinsons, Savers, Poundland, and M&S and not a toilet roll, wipe or hand gel in site. (did manage to get some milk for my mum - its one of the few foods that she can tolerate nowadays)
A friend phoned me a couple of hours ago. He'd just been to Lidl and a guy in there was at the checkout with a TROLLEY full of flour having emptied the shelves of its stock.
Why is this allowed when my sick mum struggles to find a pint of milk?
Crazy.
(and apologies for been wrong about the panic buying. Coming to a town near you I guess!)

Bye bye everyone. Bye bye. Its been a nice planet but we were on the verge of destorying it. No coincidence.
Eggs were sold out today. What are they doing with them?
I don't think the term "panic-buying" is right at all.....these people are not in a panic. They are simply doing what comes naturally...looking after themselves and their own.
we are removing all the stories ZM?
It’s not just Stoke Nailit, it’s everywhere
it's what morons do.
Eggs were out when I got back from holiday on Friday night but they are back here now. I went to a supermarket early on Saturday and got some. I saw a couple who had about 8 packs of 12 eggs between their baskets. Why?
They're using eggs instead of toilet paper.
No shopping panic here. Food on shelves as normal. No hand gel or paracetamol though.
Another thing that *** me off is that I have always been a user of UHT milk (due to my lifestyle). People used to turn their noses up at that but now, can I find UHT in the supermarket? No.
Sure as eggs is eggs, it's not going to get much better for quite a long time.
Some people use Lidl to stock their corner shops. I recently (before the CV issue) saw somebody with a trolley crammed full of about 50 loaves (maybe a sandwich shop) and then someone else with one crammed full of the boxes of biscuits that were on special offer

I know Bobbie but a few days ago it was nothing like this in Stoke, so just didnt get how bad it was/has become, hence the apology for not quite 'getting it' when other ABers were posting about it.
^ and it might get worse
Of course people are going to stock up before Boris locks them all away in their homes for an indefinite period. You can't trust him to provide the necessities of life while you're locked up, so it's stock up or starve. It's the only way to alleviate the ravages of this despotic coward who runs away from the first sight of a challenge (remember Heathrow Runway debate, remember Andrew Neill, remember Flooding . . . . . .)
Also seeing sparse shelves. Up to the retailers to get new supplies to cope with the selfish fools, I guess. Surprised Lidl don't put limits on. Other stores do.
You need a lie down, canary.

If it gets really bad, I'm going get myself sent back to the nick :-)
(Or would that class as a mass gathering, like football?)
Around here, the shops aren't fully restocking, but holding some back. So, ask, if you need something and the shelf is empty. They are keeping things back in stock rooms.
Nailit, what's the food supply like at the food bank?
