She did a 70 mile round trip two weekends running.
5.5 million people in Scotland.
If they all did the same unnecessary journey, it would be 385 million road miles.
Undoubtedly in that lot, there would be crashes and breakdowns requiring emergency services and social contact.
That's why she was putting out the message NOT to make unnecessary journeys, and why she had to go for making one - twice. Total hypocrisy and lack of leadership.

Aside from disputing that the checking on other properties isn't necessary; "they" don't all own other properties that they need to check, so won't be doing the same. One may as well say x people are still going out to work, if everyone drove the same there'd be Bedlam and the world would end.
