He does appear to waffle a bit but that's because he's accompanied on the daily briefing by people who are experts in their field and much more concise in their delivery.

No. He’s a politician doing his best in unprecedented circumstances. The dumb-ass questions of the press make me feel uncomfortable. They once had my respect but no longer. If you want the truth, listen to Reuters.
He got a bit mixed up with his stats and had to ‘go back’ but on the whole he’s doing a decent job under stressful conditions Id say
No, I don't feel uncomfortable listening to him. He's doing an unenviable job at the moment - a job that would put anyone under considerable stress.

Yes I agree, I just feel as though I want to help him get the words out, I did just said to OH, hes got a lot on his mind, and I dont envy any of them.
He has lied in the past. A propaganda man.
I agree he is doing his best but I know what you mean and he’s not helped himself in the past by making throwaway statements and promises that turn out to be unfulfilled.
The latest headline about testing feels like another
I feel the same as ZM - uncomfortable with the press. All the press do is try to trick him up to create headlines. I feel really sorry for the poor man. He is doing well under the circumstances.

'Trip him up'
All he has to do to avoid tripping up is to stick to the facts.

If those massive brains in the press seats try to be clever call them out as the colonials say.
Yes, it's tough at the top.
I have been known to say the F word, like for’ eff sake’, when I listen to some of the inane drivel from the Press to MH each day at 5pm
Me too Bobbie. In fact this week I have been avoiding the daily press gathering to keep my blood pressure down!

I’ll answer for Diddlydo and Teacake before they see this thread - they hate him, he’s a liar apparently, and should be sacked.

Personally, you couldn’t pay me enough money to do the job he’s having to do at the moment, and I think he’s making a decent fist of it. I think he’s entitled to stumble every now and then.
Given the circumstances and the pressure he's under, I think he's doing a great job.
I thought he looked quite unwell tonight.
If he hadn't already had the virus I would have said he was coming down with it.
Perhaps he is just exhausted.
I wouldn't have his job for all the tea in China and I think the Press have been unnecessarily aggressive to him.
Now is not the time , save the aggressive stuff for the inevitable enquiry when maybe everything will become clearer.
19.28 Nearly right, plus slime ball.
21.07 The press have been doing their job, asking direct questions about what the people of the UK are concerned about, and like all politicians they don't answer the question at all, they dance round them. Plus you need a good memory if you lie or you will continually trip yourself up, that's why he my look exhausted. Having an enquiry after an event is not good enough when there are thousands dying now.
I was going to make a sensible comment on a sensible thread but fear it's about to go downhill

no - yes - like the journos and the been hacks he just doesnt understand a lot of what is said around him

the word 'exponential' puts them all into a trance - a bit like AB - and the Been fluffy hacks can only count up to fwee.

firty is a v large numba and 30 000 is uncountably many

so they settle on irrelevancies like did mrs mopp answer the phone when block purchase of ventilators were mooted
or was it the minister thinking it was someone doing the blinds in his office ?

the hacks can see an oh my god question ( wiv maff yeah?) coming and stick there like a bunny in headlights
