//When I want educated proper debate I retreat to the Guardian where I often post but with like-minded intelligent souls//

So you'll only debate with people who agree with you? I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the word "debate".
There is nothing to debate here. Carrie(other wise known as "that new lass boris is with") has had a baby. Facts.
So diddly in all the these debates you have with people in the Guardian have you yet to meet one that voted Brexit? How did that debate go?
Guardian readers do not vote Brexit. End of as they have more sense.
TD, you are whistling in the wind now, they have their fangs out.

A pleasant thread spoiled from the off.
not a single guardian reader voted brexit? right oh! I feel a CB post coming on.

Just for Diddly

//It is understood Mr Johnson, who has just recovered from coronavirus, was present throughout the birth, at an NHS hospital in London.

But he has now returned to work in Downing Street, No 10 said, where he is leading the response to the pandemic.

He is expected to take a "short period" of paternity leave at some point later this year, Downing Street said.//
So he's delayed his paternity leave until after C-19 is under control. Good for him.
I think he might be named ----John Morgan Matthew.
// … as you advised me previously, report it to a mod … //

For information - you cannot report to a Moderator directly.

All reports on the site, including those from Moderators themselves, go to the Ed and team who decide if the report is valid, and then act or not, as they see fit.
I meant just report it generally, as Steg seems to have a lot of info on this. Whether it's correct or whether he's just guessing (or stirring) I don't know, but thank you for clarifying things Andy.
You're welcome Mozz.
//Guardian readers do not vote Brexit.//

A sad indictment on Guardian readers. Not one is capable of thinking independently of the herd.
Mr J2 and I are very pleased that all is well and we wish the new family every happiness after the roller-coaster they have been on for the last few weeks.
I bet Boris's wife (and, yes, she is still his wife) is really chuffed.
I am sure she is taking the news with decorum and aplomb without any meanness ,envy or bitterness. They are all probably very intelligent civilised people who realise the world goes on. Whether you wish to be happy or miserable is the individual's choice isn't it ?
she might be chuffed, I don't know her personally but at her age, she is most likely to be an adult about adult matters.

Congrats to both parents.

In fairness Naomi, it's more a case of Brexiteers wouldn't read The Guardian.

I shouldn't think Boris and Carrie give a rat's ass how their ex partners feel about it. Just be happy for some good news during these dark old days.
Is it really good news when the so-called leader of the country has a child with a mistress while still technically married to someone else? Is it surprising that decent Christian morality has gone down the pan when that is the example being set? I bet HM The Queen is "not amused".
