Still dreadful even *with* the size of its population, when you consider that there is more to come. But, yes. It is important to recognise that Spain and Italy may have undercounted deaths, so we may be ahead only due to counting techniques. What is undeniable, though, is that the death toll in the UK is very high, and it is legitimate to wonder if there were...

mozz: "There's nothing "anti-English" (3T's goto phrase for anyone he disagrees with) about demanding action," - I agree and I've never called anyone Anti British for that, or indeed not agreeing with me, they are anti British for trawling around for sticks to beat us with Gromit is the master as illustrated above he always picks the figures that makes us look the worst.
Whatever the numbers are - and we have to accept that no single country's figures can be relied upon - the fact remains that this government has totally bungled its handling of the current crisis.
well diddly you nearly managed a sensible post there, I suppose the drivel generator flipped back on mid post!
"the fact remains that this government has totally bungled its handling of the current crisis." Yes diddly but are you trying to tell me that a Labour government led by Corbyn which is what we would have had would have been any better. He couldn't make a decision if his life depended on it.
9.16 When their proved wrong time and time again, the only argument they have to hang onto is, could have Corbyn done any better. Emm, I'm beginning to think so.
Who’s Emm?

I've been described as "anti-English" here for simply being a remainer, not wanting to see innocent asylum seekers persecuted alongside the bad'uns or for thinking Tommy Robinson is a thug. It's been used (not necessarily by you 3T) on here in the past to describe anyone with a less than right wing attitude.
Waterboatman's sidekick in the mornings, Zacs.
Teacake, as we have not come across something like this before and any government will always take advice from the medical and scientific experts on what to do then I do not think any party be it tory or labour would have done much different. Where does getting proved wrong time and time again come into this. I believe that if Corbyn had won and then this happened then he would have been dumped as leader anyway as he is too indecisive.
No TC, Corbyn couldn't have done better. I'm not sure he could've united the country half as well as Boris has. Sure, there are dissenting voices about lockdown, but on the whole, Britain is behind him. And Diddly, nice to see a sensible, non-reactionary post from you. Keep it up.
Doooogie, I thought it might be Teacake’s imaginary friend. The one who whispers in his ear all the time and makes him write it all down.
mozz, I only use anti English for the Scots that obviously are. I have never used anti English in relation to brexit.
Were all the deaths recorded in our hospitals British citizens or some of the 20,0000 infected and possible foreign Nationals that we allowed to enter without border checks? You know....the border checks that the luvvies call ray cist and disc rim a tory.

3T, I'm positive I've seen it banded round for those of us who defied "the will of the people".

I can't bame the Scots btw, they had centuries of "Anti-Scottish" behavior from the English to catch up on, wanting what they think is best for them is less anti-English and more pro-Scottish.
You also believe most of the Welsh are anti English too, Tora, don’t you?
Are you saying that our C-19 death rate is so high because of immegration Togo?
No but immigration might have something to add to the conclusions.
@10.23, Emm, is Matt Hancock pondering at his desk at the moment of what excuses he can come up with at his next briefing. I would guess he's going to thank the people of the Isle of wight for their fantastic response to down loading the app, and congratulate then on it being a great success, you can't beat a bit of patter to get though the briefing, plus of course avoid taking about the none 100.000 daily testing, and still the lack of PPE. I would think he will be keeping his fingers crossed that no one mentions the death rate, ( no chance). It also seems very strange to me, that for weeks now some have said what a great job the government are doing, but now are questioning the death rate themselves.?
I wonder if the message to protect out enaitchess was sent out to the rest of the World, or do they still consider it free and theirs to use if they can only get here?
Comparing countries is pointless. Each counts differently and each has different demographics.

It would be useful for us to put the petty squabbles and political point scoring behind us and get to understand why the figures are high. Just as it appears BAME people are more prone, but we dont know why, we should understand why the English figure is this way. Is it because of us being overweight perhaps, there does seem to be some thought that obesity is a contributor. There are many other things to look at all this politicking is ridiculous.
