Utter Lunacy 60 Statues To Go
BLM have targeted 60 Statues and Plaques. Their choices are bizzare. Will we now have black stabbing victims picking and choosing what hospitals save their lives. They apparently now don't appreciate Guy's hospital. I am sure Guys didn't turn them away when they were bleeding to death.
Arms manufacture and Engineer Armstrong. Obviously BLM would have sooner lived under a Nazi regime. Armstrong Company manufactured the Armstrong Whiteley Bomber in the 2nd W.W.

Gherkin: 'However, those who are retaliating to the aggressive police presence,' I don't know what you were watching but I saw a bunch of coppers being commendably restrained in the face of extreme provocation. Copers who weren't allowed to wear beat helmets which might have offered some protection. Coppers who weren't allowed to wear crash helmets and...

Shoota, do you think this movement is solely about George Floyd? This is a systematic problem that is world wide. It is people as blind to the reality of this as you who are coming out with this tripe against the movement.
Systematic racism is in the UK just as it is across seas.
If this is all because of George, why the Harlem riot of 1964? Why was BlackLivesMatter established in 2013? This issue has been going on since the first break of day.

Gerkins, //It's about the systems attitude towards black people.//
I’ll ask again. What ‘system’.
As for your bit on Sgt Blackman (hooked from The Daily Mail from four years ago), that has to be a joke. You’re condemning the violence caused in part by ‘chronic understaffing’ in prisons whilst at the same time supporting riots by a group intent on defunding the police. Seems you only want law and order when it suits you.

"So explain what systematic racism is and how we are 'guilty' of it in the UK."
Maybe if you weren't so lazy you'd look it up yourself, if you actually had a care to discover.

Naomi24, I feel it's futile even debating such a subject with you. This is because I have read your posts in the past regarding minorities and anyone who may be different to yourself. You're a stubborn woman when faced with a harsh truth you become flippant and passive aggressive.
All these people so ready to jump into a debate then they ask me for information to use in said debate.

It's good not to be ignorant because when you discuss topics like this from a position of ignorance, you really make yourself look like a racist.

"When you have done that explain how it justifies rioting."
I shouldn't have to explain to you why social injustice justifies rioting. Are you completely unaware of the riots for gay rights, or women's rights?
I will ask, yet again! Where did society advance in these sectors with peaceful protests?
Comparing one man in prison (a white man - marine at that) to a protest about an entire minority is part of the racial problem. What a comparison to make. There is no comparison to the cases apart from the fact that people got together to let the system know they weren't happy.

You are living in a democracy. Change is achieved by canvassing and voting, not going out on the streets and lumping young coppers with brooms, setting fire to flags and defacing National monuments.
If you didn't realise that I suggest you look it up unless you are too lazy to do so.

Steady, Gherkins......your slip is showing.
You still need to be learn to debate contentious topics without resorting to personal, direct insults.
The overt racism still evident in USA is a thing of great shame (or ought to be) to every right-thinking American. That *their* police officers have behaved, so often, in this way is a thing which needs addressing at every level.
This country is far from perfect but doesn't, thankfully, suffer from the levels of racist thinking/behaviour on display in many American States.
However, dismantling statues on often tenuous links to historical racism is not the way to go. Statues erected to 'slave traders' who had precious little else to recommend them probably deserves more dialogue.
