This has been going on for a good few days, TTT. Apparently JKR spoke of 'those who menstruate' which was seen by some as a slur on Transpeople? Can't really say I understand, or care, for that matter.
ah, I see, she's being attacked for being correct. Well I must say I'm encouraged by her view on this. As a Noo Layba luvvie I'd assumed she was a card carrying member of TROB. Well done Jo. No doubt you'll never get a statue but look on the bright side, they can't pull it down can they!
I don't see what she has said as wrong, it is based on her life experiences - I may nor agree with all she says but that's totally different and I wouldn't lambast her for her views.
None of us would get 100% backing in the wider public eye for our views and that is as it should be, a personal choice.
I think the Harry Potter actors should be ashamed of themselves. To publicly speak against an author who made them who they are today... Where would they be without Rowling?
They have twisted her words to imply she is saying something that she is not whilst she is opening up about her past, publicly.
How would those who don't menstruate ever comprehend the situation, mentally and physically, of those who do.
People always like to make something out of nothing. They want people to think that they themselves are perfect because they are calling someone out who may not be.
What got my gears grinding was Daniel Radcliffe chiming in and saying that he didn't agree with Ms. Rowling, and he hoped her views didn't sour their enjoyment of her Harry Potter novels.
Note to Mr Radcliffe - you are an actor who simply played the character she invented, and if you hadn't done it, someone else would have!
Try and remember who the talent is, before offering your opinions as though you are somehow connected - you're not.
She's always been achingly 'right on', trying and succeeding in getting other people deplatformed and silenced.
All jolly good fun.
Now it's turned around to bite her on the bum and she's none too happy about it.
While it's true I'm no literary genius like yourself, andy, I think I know when someone has been hoisted by their own petard.
