In this country pretty much all statues are put there to give thanks from a grateful nation or community to the person depicted on the plinth. At the time they were erected, the people, of the day saw no wrong in the deeds that were achieved to bring them fame and be celebrated. Mayor Khan's family and the family's of most the BLM demonstrators were not resident in...

Fie in his belly? More like hypocrisy.
Boris is annoyed at the Mayor for protecting the monuments.
The alternative is to leave them uncovered and them getting vandalised again.
Perhaps Johnson should tell his useless Home Secretary to get a grip of the situation.

////Boris is annoyed at the Mayor for protecting the monuments.////

what's wrong with being annoyed at Khan?
Bobbi what a thing to say. lol. Nothing on what my daughter and her friends, who all live in London, say.
Gromit, where is the hypocrisy/
//
Mr Johnson has slammed those who want to topple the Churchill statue and said: 'The statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square is a permanent reminder of his achievement in saving this country – and the whole of Europe – from a fascist and racist tyranny'.//

it is he that is wanting to destroy our history by removing plaques etc, in other words he's Kow-towing to mob rule
is he not?

You can be annoyed at Khan for all kinds of things.
But being annoyed at him for preventing the cenotaph being vandalised is stupid in the extreme.

Much better to be annoyed at Patel for not doing her job properly than Khan.

Boris spouting hot air while not actually getting his Home secretary to get off her a*se and do something, is what we expect from our weak leaders.
Question Author
Khan is doing this for Khans own sake , he's not bothered at all about the statues hes having covered
I agree with Bobbi.
Gromit,// preventing the cenotaph being vandalised is stupid in the extreme.//
That is not why he slated Khan he slated him for surrendering the mob.
//as Sadiq Khan was accused of 'surrendering' the capital's streets 'to the mob//
"Khan is doing this for Khans own sake," same as Boris did things for Boriss own sake when he was Mayor.
Khan should not be protecting the statues, Priti Patel should be.
Last week Winston Churchill’s statue was vandalised by Patel’s inaction.

I have no idea what you want.
You seem to be saying Khan is wrong and the cenotaph and Churchill left unprotected from the mobs.
The fault doesn't lie with Boris Johnson or Sadiq Khan, it lies entirely with the marauding morons bent on destruction.
Question Author
Khan as Mayor should have deplored the actions of last weekend but instead he's heading a commission of what is deemed offensive to BLM, to have history removed
Is this a result of the police not getting involved in Bristol?

Normally, they'd post 2 or police at the cenotaph, with 'back-up' on hand as a deterrent.

Khan hasn’t surrendered to the mob.
Last week Churchill's statue was vandalised as the police looked on. So it was a failure of policing.

Cressida Dick, the Metroplitan Police Commissioner is (in this order) answerable, responsible and accountable to the Queen, the Home Office and the Mayor of London, through the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (made up of London Assembly members).

I’ll ask again.
Do you want the monuments protected or not this weekend?

I’ll ask again.
Do you want the monuments protected or not this weekend?

They would have been protected this weekend.
Question Author
