The tory government has revealed, in glorious technicolour, its true colours when it comes to devolution.
They never believed in it and now are working hard to reverse it. Smug Rees Mogg, odious Boris,
creepy Gove and their pals are all coming out with factually inaccurate statements about Scotland's position within this failing union. Scotland is a nation, not a region nor a district and the existence of the border is enshrined in statutes. The shambles post covid will be as nought compared with the disaster that will be brexit. God help us all.

Hard to reverse the doing of a Scottish Parliament. Even if it were sensible to get rid of it, it simply looks bad to remove a democratic body once it's been established.
Anyone know when the Queens Speech is Scheduled on A/B ?. TIA.
yes devolution was monumentally stupid, all it's done is create thousands of new snouts for the trough. As TGL said, the state should be as small as possible. Reverse it now.
rich: "If we are such a problem why fight so hard to keep us within your increasingly incompetent and shambolic dictatorship. " -err give the vote to th English and see how hard we fight! PMSL you're deluded man.
Tomus: "There should have been a co-ordinated UK response to this from the start, but none of them wanted it, because of course they're devolved and they want to make their own decisions and not be pushed around by Westminster. " - that's the last thing they want, wee jimmy has made it very clear she wants the EUSSR to run the country.
@22.29.I dont think that it is Sturgeon that is at fault, more the fault of her more idiotic followers. Most of whom-like Brian Cox,Irvine Walsh,Sean Connery etc all "love"Scotland...love it so much they live everywhere and anywhere but Scotland.....

I am always amazed by the stream of vitriol which is directed at our strong and stable leader who can at least utter a sentence without a lie in it unlike Boris and his best mate the Donald, neither of whom could walk along a straight road. Are you looking forward to your chlorinated chicken, hormone injected beef and God knows what else is in store.
it won't come to that rich, we just have to find a common ground with Scotland and England.
I am having a few problems, but they are being dealt with.
just bought this new super laptop and working my way round its complexities.
22:29 of course not, as I have already stated, she's not going to actually admit it is she?? It just emanates from every pore in her tiny wee body, like most of the Scots on here actually.
Wow! Just personal, bitter BS then?
Twisted mind.
No, just telling the truth. It won't be long before one of the English hating scots on here posts their diatribe again and YOU know who you are (lol) !
If more proof is needed, it seems it's ok for the OP to post his bile, making insulting comments about Boris and his cabinet, but how very dare I make a TRUE comment about Sturgeon and all hell breaks loose - you could not make it up. I've had my say now, no need to say any more, truth hurts eh??
Rich: "Are you looking forward to your chlorinated chicken, hormone injected beef and God knows what else is in store. " - Are WE looking forward.... Scotland is still part of the UK me old china.
//...it simply looks bad to remove a democratic body once it's been established.//

It depends what added value that body provides, Jim. The Greater London Council was abolished by Mrs T in the 1980s and it was probably the best thing that could have happened to London and Londoners (especially those living in the outer London boroughs). Unfortunately the Blair government saw fit to reintroduce it (with only a slight change of the name and an "elected mayor" - as if that made it all worthwhile). Unfortunately Londoners voted by two to one for the proposal and so again there was established another layer of government between the London Boroughs and Westminster. Either the GLA needs to go or the London Boroughs need to go. There's no need for both.

So it is with the Scottish, Welsh and N. Irish "governments". There are local authorities in those places to deal with local matters. The only reason devolved powers were provided is as a sop to the separatists. If they want separation they can have it as far as I'm concerned but they've asked the people of Scotland that question and they've given their answer. I don't see why all the costs and paraphernalia of an alternative "government" should be provided when there already is one.
"I make a TRUE comment about Sturgeon and all hell breaks loose - you could not make it up."

As you're not able to give any example of Nicola Sturgeon's supposed hatred of the English, you HAVE made it up.
