At the moment it is nothing more than a form of illegal graffiti. Perhaps Ms Reid would be worthy of a plinth if she ran a successful campaign to eliminate modern day slavery perpetuated by her BAME brothers in Leicester and elsewhere. So far she has benefited no one apart from boosting her own ego and is not worthy of public recognition.

well its a pretty good statue....but maybe they could rotate what is put there?
Perhaps it ought to stay put until it has offended people for 125 years?
As if by magic. (the thread and the statue)
As with most of what BLM do or aim to do it is divisive... as this thread will prove.

Well if it isn't removed legally I don't think it will be there for long.
It wont last long, as its not a legally placed statue anyone can damage it and they can't prosecute them, it will be no different than painting over graffiti, wait untill the drunks spill out of the pubs and clubs on a weekend.

And besides she has zilch to do with the city of Bristol.
As we speak a coach party of protesters from somewhere, have hit the motorway and is heading down there , to tear it down
Says in your link that the statue is, at the moment, temporary. The people of Bristol ought to decide whether it becomes permanent or not.

quote - The deliberate use of the "power" salute to triumphantly rub the general public's face in things isn't exactly conducive to good community relations either.
Perhaps, Fender62, the general public..or a large proportion are on the side of those who placed the statue there.....

watched naga munchetty bbc this morning interview the jen reid, naga thought it was wonderful by the expression on her face, bbc condone destruction of the original statue, and the erection of an illegal one, all things diversity ehh.
On a purely aesthetic view, I think the new statue looks great. I suspect that it won't last long though, before a revenge toppling takes place.

I think you'll find the people of Bristol aren't
I'm in the process now of filling a coachload of protestors to go and topple it - only joking ! (or am I?) ...
Get rid of it and put someone who actually had something to do with Bristol like.
Paul Dirac or John James.
Or Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
A statue of Naga Munchetty would be good ....... for the pigeons.

Ugly awful thing, hopefully it'll get pulled down soon.
It should be slung in the river or some such equivalent action, and the vandals who put up an unauthorised statue investigated by the police. All this inaction just encourages the racists to get more and more brazen and outrageous.
