I recall hearing on More or Less that Spain had changed its way of counting to include only deaths in a very recent period- so Covid deaths that came to light from say a week earlier in perhaps a Care home or at home were not counted. We have been counting deaths that occurred through heart attacks etc where the deceased had previously had a positive Covid test and had recovered several months ago.
International comparisons are fraught with difficulty.
Only excess deaths gives a full picture of the overall situation in each country.
