I don’t know how much compensation Lissie may receive for the loss of her husband in such appalling circumstances - not that any amount will really compensate - but spending money on low-lives like these people sticks in the craw a bit. Yes, I know … they're 'entitled'.

Every time something like this is in the news, Lissie and PC Harper's parents must feel like the knife is twisting again and again. Justice only seems to apply to scum!
//Two of his killers - 18-year-old Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole - last week lodged applications with the Court of Appeal seeking permission to challenge their convictions and their 13-year prison sentences.
Getaway driver Henry Long, 19, who was jailed for 16 years lodged an application on Friday to appeal against his sentence.//
And how much is that going to cost?

It's disgusting, and they are entitled, and they kind of have to be -- not for their sake but for everybody else's. Granting legal protection only to the innocent is, after all, a violation of the principle of presumption of innocence; the right of appeal is also important, because miscarriages of justice *do* happen, and, again, there would be no sense in only allowing the innocent to appeal.
None of this makes it any less reasonable to be disgusted; it's obvious that they have no remorse and only intend to abuse the system, either deliberately to cause pain or because they are, and always have been, unfeeling and selfish.

// Speechless! What is there to say?//
silent but still able to write - thank god (for AB and its system of 'logic')
The system should not revolve around hum, inability to pay - in order to achieve convictions
even I - at my maddest - can see that would be - unfair
but still - the usual suspects on AB may disagree
