Apparently, people who needn’t go back to work aren’t going back to work.

Is this inevitable? So many office jobs are far from useful, involving moving bits of paper around, or making phone calls, that people just aren’t going to miss a few million office workers not turning up.

A bit like many hospital clinic consultations, just as effective done by telephone, people might be waking up to the tremendous waste of time that society indulges in.

teacake (not that I've got that much faith in your opinions old chum) but I think you might be right. She usually does.
If calling someone a liar is not an ad hominem attack I don't know what is. Can some kind mod take pity on the rest of us and close this thread.
Well AL, there's opinions, then there's always good sound advice that can come from AB.

Oh not you too, Jackdaw.

I'll explain it.

Someone says "You steal money," and "Your dogs bite people."

If that's WRONG, then you can call them A Liar. That is not an attack on The Person (ad hominem).

Naomi made certain assertions (so what's new). They were wrong. I called her a Liar. That is not an ad hominem attack.

Try this instead: I put forward a cogent defence of socialism. Rather than picking holes in my defence, she calls me an uneducated fool. THAT is an ad hominem attack.

I don't do them, as a rule. She (and her ilk) do it all the time.

Got it?
Allen, I have never called you an uneducated fool … and I stand by what I said.

Subjunctive, naomi.
