The POTUS is being transferred to a military hospital

Given that the Whitehouse has an excellent medical facility it is an interesting development that they need to have him transferred to said facility

the president is on experimental stem cell therapy
and this piece is about that

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/cbin.11440

dont persist - terribly heavy read
and the bottom line is - noone knows if they work.
I doubt the Whitehouse medical facility will have the kind of intensive care facility suited to Covid patients. They're moving him somewhere that does as a precaution in case his condition suddenly deteriorates. I wouldn't read anything else into it other than that.
He didn't look too bad before he walked to the helicopter.

I wasn't reading anything into it, just curious.
I am sure the White House has a medical centre of some sort I doubt if they would be able to care for someone who might need mechanical ventilation or be able to administer to. such as stem cell or other “experimental treatment.
//All American presidents are treated at Walter Reed if they require hospital care//

The Walter Reed Hospital actually has a Presidential suite for just this kind of thing.
It would simply not be cost-effective to have full hospital facilities at the White House just on the off-chance. When King George VI had a lung removed in 1949 a room at the Palace was converted into an operating theatre. Times have moved on and now members of the Royal Family are usually treated at the King Edward VII hospital for officers.
Most major surgery for our Monarchs is done at the King Georges Hospital for Officers in Marylebone PP.
They do have a medical centre in the White House, but if things suddenly take a turn for the worse, it's best to have him in a fully equipped hospital.
My mistake King Edward V11 hospital for Officers not King Georges.
The late Queen Mother was a regular there, usually to have fish bones removed from her throat after pigging out at dinner.
I cannot fink ( fluent ab speak at 07 57) of the last taym her Majesty underwent general anaesthesia let alone had surgery of any kaynd

I note the royal babes dont get a palace delivery nor officers hospital- where the mannish midwives - yell - "push damn you!" ( you orrible little princess!)

babe as in Baby - not as in Kate Middleton ffoooooaaar!

Correction - I thought cell mediated therapy was a bit presidentially sporting. Retract that - see above
I thought he might have had grouped sera
but in fact he has had recombinant antibody - very common - the drugs all have -ab at the end. Enclitic - the president woild enjoy hearing that ! I had rituximab. [ -ab on da end see?)

Hey I have just seen on fast forward tv David Attenborough talking about the presidents chance of survival ....

other ABers who can understand this ( one or two durrr) will know the idea is - cell ( small planet) - entry point - small tree sticking out of planet. Virus docks onto the tree and disappears down the trunk ( taken in - endocytosis )
Cover tree in goo ( recombinant antibody ) then the virus cant dock

that stuff - very old - horse serum for diphteria - fell out of fashion. Sir Almroth Wright who was head of the institute of serology where Alexander Fleming found penicillin was cruelly nick named Sir Almost Right by medical students

So what happened - working and quipping like an Aber ( hey thats a lot!) in the morning and in hospital by 4 pm
something happened in between ( a novus actus interveniens we latinists call it) history will tell us what it was - --
any speculation

[had a rigor after the antibody stuff is my tip today]
thats why I cant finka the last taym

The late Queen Mother was a regular there, usually to have fish bones removed from her throat after pigging out at dinner.

um no - orrrr nay - geddit? she was norf of the border pigging out. Got a fish bone stuck. and the big problem was - finding a scot who was not utterly cut on Hogmanay - bofe surgeon and anaesthetist

They foond a tee total ENT surgeon .....

not lundy I think - auchter muchty more like!
“the pool of gormlessness”

Perfect description, PP, one I shan’t forget.
I wonder if he were demanding crazier therapy ( you know voodoo class - yes you do - you read AB ) and the doctor said he coldnt cope ....
Good morning Allen
we just Dont Know ....
The President, whoever they are, is head of the Armed Forces so it is not inappropriate for him to be treated at an army facility.
If Retro needed any Treatment he would be referred to
The Lambeth Hospital.
For those not familiar with it, the Lambeth Hospital is a psychiatric hospital. Another thinly veiled insult from gulliver.
Hardly "thinly veiled". Señor Gully just can't stop the abuse, can he?
