I wonder if they will have to relinquish the Sussex title too? I hope so.

Whilst he is not a working Royal, he is still a member of that family and is still very much a part of that family.
I do not think he has let the Queen or his country down (although he might have managed the announcements better). Ultimately, he has gone from 3rd in line to 6th in line. His role (and I think he has always stuggled to find a role since he was never brought up to be King) has diminished as William's family has expanded. Given what he saw his mother go through, I can understand that he might want to try and control the media or face it on his terms.
I read the recent judgement on the Duchess's case and it is clear that the DM went far too far. Unfortunately, she has trailer trash family who have been stupid in giving the press too much access and have allowed themselves to be completely manipulated by gutter press reporting.
I do not know her personally, but I haven't warmed to her. Having said that, I really do have a lot of sympathy for her. If the Duchess of Cambridge did something she was generally praised in the press; whereas for something similar the Duchess of Sussex was hounded. She could never win.
As for the upcoming interview, Charles did it, Diana did it, Andrew did it (all with pretty horrendous results). So I do not see it is so awful that Meghan and Harry are doing it.
I hope they can find some happiness.

yup, as I have said on here before...imagine being brought up knowing you are the "spare" As you big brother's family grows, the prospect of being needed recedes, you aren't allowed to do the job you really want to do and you KNOW that the plan is to "slim down the Royal Family" ....and he's a young man....he's looking ahead to a life of smile and nod nod and smile. I think its really hard for the Queen but society and expectations have changed in so many ways.
//In a statement a spokesman for Meghan and Harry said: "As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role.

A deliberately disrespectful response in my opinion especially to the queen who really has given a life of service. They should be ashamed of themselves. Very sad indeed.

Ken, I don’t think anyone would have minded at all if they simply decided to step away, relinquish all connections with their position as ‘royals’ and do their own thing. The problem is they want it all their way - to retain their titles to give them a leg up in the real world and to be royal when it suited them - and that’s what they can’t do. I feel very sad for the queen.
