Anyone Been Watching The Derek Chauvin Trial?
I presume we're allowed to talk about it as it's all live-streamed on US tv.

ZM a psychopath and a racist. Haha I have seen it all now. ZM and I have had many run-ins but let me assure you Untitled (or should it be unhinged looking at the rantings on this post) ZM has never displayed the traits of a psychopath nor has he ever displayed and signs of being a racist. I think an apology is in order for this one.

'It was at this point that Nelson showed Mercil a series of photographs captured from the body worn camera of Officer Lane, and showing Chauvin’s knee on Floyd from the angle down Floyd’s proned body.
Photo 1: Where’s Chauvin’s leg in this image? On Floyd’s neck? Or on his shoulder blades and back. Mercil: Shoulder blades and back.
And in photo 2? Same. Photo 3? Same. Photo 4? Same.
This, of course, fundamentally undercuts the prosecution’s narrative of guilt that it was Chauvin’s knee on Floyd’s neck that killed Floyd.
Are there circumstances like those already discussed where would be appropriate to maintain presence of leg across shoulder blades and back in order to ensure control of the suspect? Yes, there are, Mercil answered. For as long as 10 minutes? It’s possible.'

Yes, the prosecution can call whoever they want as witnesses – but how did they find out these individuals had relevant information?
Some officers are giving details of training that the police are given – it does not seem an easy thing to find out who within a police force is most knowledgeable/relevant to give this information at the trial without the police force volunteering the person.
If the police have assisted the prosecution in this way (advising who they should call as witnesses), I don’t think it would be against the law – but it would certainly show whose side they are on.

douglas - // Does 'shoulderblades and back' mean the compensation paid out will be recovered? //
The compensation paid to Mr Floyd's family was paid by the city, in a civil case, and the outcome of the criminal proceedings should have no bearing on that.
If the city decides, once the verdict is in, that it should not have paid the compensation, they will probably have to sue the family in civil court to win the money back.
I would imagine that they will be keen to put this dreadful situation to bed asap, and will not be keen to prolong it by seeming to be mean-spirited in trying to get the compensation back.

I have been watching court TV since the start of the trial. There is a great deal of photographic and video evidence. I am no liberal and I do support our UK police but from what I have viewed in detail it seems to me its an open and shut case against Derek Chauvin. There is so much evidence against him, even from his own police.
