The Sunny-Uplands Of Brexit
During January of this year, Beef exports to the EU fell by 91.5%, Cheese by 85.1% and Pork by 86.9% - some exports such as breeding animals, seed potatoes and certified seeds stopped entirely – with a total loss of export value of around £100 million (source: Private Eye).

Hymie//Just to put some numbers on it, I can buy a perfectly reasonable bottle of wine in France for less than £2; in the UK the equivalent bottle will cost me at least £5.//
So your perspective on Britain extricating itself from the self-serving unelected dictatorship of Brussels with its dedication to a federal Europe, army & currency etc. a direction which should be evident to anyone with half a brain, is all based on your ability to buy a few bottles of cheap wine ?

In my post @21:35 I stated that through my work I’m aware of a number of issues heading our way as a result of Brexit – once they come to fruition, I’ll be posting them on this site.
I can tell you for sure that the dust has not settled on the grief that Brexit will cause the UK – there is a lot more to come.
No doubt all those who voted leave were fully aware of the things to come (as a result of Brexit).

//NJ – I am definitely worse off as a result of Brexit.
If it were not for Covid, I would have made at least two trips to France to stock up on wine.//
Saved you some money then. Wean yourself off European wine. It’s not up to much. Transfer your allegiance to New World.
//Some of the recent supermarket shortages have undoubtedly been the result of Brexit.//
I’ve not noticed any.
//I’m likely to need to get additional insurance to drive my car in Europe.//
If you do you should change your insurer. All major insurers have said that although you will need a “green card” there will be no charge for it.
The problems your employer is facing are part of the changes this country needs to make. It needs to reduce its dependence on trade with the EU as far as possible.
//is there any good things happening out of Brexsh*t//
Best ask some of the 60% of adults who have received their Covid jabs. As I have pointed out, that was unlikely to have occurred had we remained members. The figure would have been nearer 10%.
I’m afraid, Hymie, that if the greatest disasters that befall you as a result of Brexit is to have to pay a few bob extra for some unpalatable French wine and having to renew your passport a little earlier, you’ve little to worry about.

Hymie, // I can buy a perfectly reasonable bottle of wine in France for less than £2; in the UK the equivalent bottle will cost me at least £5. //
Just bite the bullet and pay the £5 until travel restrictions are lifted. Being out of the EU doesn't mean you're confined to the UK... or do you think it does?

I reckon each trip to France saves me around £500 against what I would pay for the merchandise in the UK (it is not only wine that I buy), after taking into account travel costs. So that’s around £1,000 a year Brexit has cost me – just considering my trips to France.
But as stated, there is a far higher cost for us all to come.

From NJ statement // The problems your employer is facing are part of the changes this country needs to make. It needs to reduce its dependence on trade with the EU as far as possible.//
It is clear that the Brexiteers are just a bunch of ‘little Englanders’ – does my employer have your permission to trade with the rest of the world, or should I advise them that besides withdrawing from Europe, they should be trading within the UK only?
