How can they possibly find him anything other than guilty of murder? Having listened to the summing up, even if you put aside the problems it would cause on the streets if he was found not guilty, the evidence was so compelling that he must surely be found guilty.

I think he was an unpopular character who has, despite his seeming disregard for Floyd’s wellbeing, been used to calm racial tensions between African/Americans and the Police
"no one doesn't deserve to die in such circumstances"

Please excuse my pedantry but this means "everyone deserves to die in such circumstances"!
Danny @ 14.05 - That's what I was thinking. A conviction for 2nd degree murder surely makes the lesser charges redundant.
dave....you are excused it should have read:
"no, one........"
I omitted the comma.
Must do better.
Jackdaw, thirded on that. I don't pretend to understand the American justice system, but surely you can't deliberately AND accidentally kill someone.
haha - ok
As we know Mozz at 13.31,not all people convicted of murder are in fact guilty of murder.Timothy Evans and Derek Bentley come readily to mind.
// I don't pretend to understand the American justice system, but surely you can't deliberately AND accidentally kill someone.//

yeah I wondered about that
we have an expert on charging in the english criminal law system NJ. I thought you went for one, ( mairder) and then if he wanted the judge wd say you cd bring in manslaughter - but wasnt required to.

as DvbeBro says - christ dont listen to him !

inconsistent pleading is certainly allowed - "I didnt hit him and I didnt hit him hard" and it is sorted out on cross examination
// As we know Mozz at 13.31,not all people convicted of murder are in fact guilty of murder.//

yes they are unless overturned on appeal - when it is a 'never was' situation I think

as for "I was convicted but I didnt do it - me muvva in law ( now dead) did" - the prisons are full of them innit? - but you know prisoners being what they are - - - may not be truthing
davebro - another point of pedantry, you say "Lee Rigby's murders were brandishing knives and they weren't shot like they damn well should have been!"
not true, they were both shot by the police
"davebro - another point of pedantry, you say "Lee Rigby's murders were brandishing knives and they weren't shot like they damn well should have been!"

Well they should take better aim!
lol true, however, i guess the idea is to disable the perpetrator so they can be questioned, punished and *shudder* lessons can be learned
I'm even more angry now - hospital costs AND keeping the scum fed and watered for the next x number of years.
Floyd was on the ground AFTER his refusal to enter police car & resisting arrest.

$23million for a criminals life & eff all but goal for apprehending cop. Who said crime doesnt pay?
lol i presume you mean GAOL tambo? Probably safer to write Jail
It hasn't paid for Floyd or Chauvin, one life lost and another ruined.
^^ ^^
No but it has paid well for his family ewho will be whistling all the way to the bank, this verdict has opened the door for all the ne'er-do-wells
to shout I Can't breathe every time they get arrested.
There are strong grounds for appeal.
The fat lady has yet to warble.
^^ ^^
''who''
Floyd will be seen as a martyr who died for the cause to be born of BLM, He was a drug fuelled thug but there will be rejoicing in Minneapolis ( Minnesota) and many other states at this verdict , I don’t believe Chauvin was innocent and should have moved away from him when people were shouting to do so, he will spend the next 40 years in jail for his stupidity but neither should Floyd be held up as a beacon either
