The UK now has the highest Debt since WW2 and what's Boris's latest Idea?
He is going to have a new Royal Yatch built at a cost of £200 Million.
as a tribute to The Duke of Edinburgh.
Borrow the money , spend it , then get the taxpayer to pay it back.
That's how Boris thinks.

I couldn't quite make it out, as half of the words were replaced by asterisks anyway. Who knows?
Banned now.

Probably been on the pop.
Lest us remember that the gutted Britannia sits in Scotland in Leith under the watchful eye of the 1st Admiral of the Scottish Fleet, one Alex HMSS Salmond?

Always thought HMY Britannia had been sold to America.?
Some words were starred out, so yes.

Are you sure it wasn't TGT using an alias ?.
No, it was of an anti-royalist flavour.
Britannia isn't gutted. She is moored in Edinburgh and is allegedly the best tourist attraction in Scotland.

London Bridge was sold to Americans. They thought they were buying Tower Bridge.
//It is a popular rumor that the bridge was bought in the belief that it was London's more recognizable Tower Bridge, but this was ardently denied by McCulloch himself and by Ivan Luckin, who sold the bridge.//

The rumour endures.
Who knows?
I really can't decide how I feel about a new Royal Yacht, it's a huge expense though it will provide jobs for many along the way.

The Queen is unlikely to get much use from it now though obviously the younger generations of Royals will.
The thing is, though, if you wanted something wouldn't you expect to have to pay for it yourself, or would you expect everyone else to chip in and buy it for you?
Those are the things I am trying to balance Jim, are the extra jobs to create this offset by the initial outlay?

I certainly wouldn't expect to be provided for in such a luxurious way.
You think the thing is going to provide jobs in this country, then?
It's a monument to Philip which can be used for the benefit of the nation rather than just being (say) a pile of stones.
I believe some people would be moaning if a chainsaw tree trunk carving had been commissioned.
I think Britain's debt is the one we owe ourselves especially as we are a Sovereign nation once again. Certainly a debt this great seafaring people would like to see paid.
how do i know that the Queen was desolate on seeing the RYB decommissioned, Ken, it was reported at the time as so. and has been confirmed any number of times especially of late, with this new project being mooted. I think its a fitting tribute to Prince Philip. Indeed the Queen may not get to see it, but it would be as shoota says a worthy conference facility amongst other uses for Charles and the rest of the growing RF.

Wonder which shipyard will be it built at ?
@13.15.Hopefully not Ferguson Shipyards in Glasgow. They started building two ferries about ten years ago and they are only half-way through them, costing us Scottish and English taxpayers millions. But it is a pet SNP project so they will keep it going for evermore.
