\\How is this "glamorising" murder webbo? As far as I know, Floyd, despite his life of crime, wasn't a murderer, but a murder victim.//

I never said he was.
Webbo, are you asking if I find it appropriate to do what Norwich council are doing ? . Quite honestly that is up to the elective council members if Norwich . What is inappropriate is claiming floyd is a criminal, when chauvin IS in this case.

still dodging the question
Webbo, what is the question ?
I don't think commemorating any individual is a wise idea. However, not to do so, is also seen by many as "rewriting history". So... whatever....
I don’t see how failure by Norwich to commemorate Floyd is rewriting history. Floyd is nothing to do with Norwich - or any other place in this country.
Anneasquith, Floyd WAS a criminal.
I don't see why universal issues have to be local to be acknowledged.
// I imagine there are far more worthy citizens of Norwich who may deserve that honour.//

it would have been typical of Norwich if they'd chosen to honour Kristine Reeves, one time Head of Neighbourhood and Strategic Housing......

Webbo - "I never said he was."

So I ask again, how is this glamourising murder, or even violence? It isn't celebrating his life, it's about how he died, and trying to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Ironic that many of the people on here crying out about Floyd's past are the same ones up in arms if statues of peop!e who weren't exactly virtuous in life are targeted by extremists.
Indeed mozz, I wonder if skin colour makes any difference to some abers opinion. .?
Question Author
where did I say it was glamourising murder.?
one didn't necessarily know that some of our citizens might have been involved in the slave trade, and so statues like Colston, should have stayed put, its just those who want to rewrite history to their own ends, who end up in the news, and largely getting their own way
Your question to Anne @08:45

\\I don’t approve of any violence webbo. I don’t believe in murder either//

Do you approve of glamorising it?

If you meant glamorising violence rather than murder, I misunderstood the question (which in fairness is fairly ambiguous). The Norwich plan doesn't glamorise violence, because it isn't celebrating Floyd's life, it's remembering his murder.
We know now, emmie. While I don't agree with vandalism... that wasn't the entire problem. Many people suggested that removing them was "rewriting history" (me neither). So, why is refusing a commemoration of something that's happened, not any different?

Which is it? Are commemorations.... glamourising, celebrating or acknowledging history. Maybe we need to decide that first.
No criminal activity since 2009? Passing FAKE Money is ok then.
Question Author
That was Anneasquith that mentioned murder, see the quotation marks.
I couldn't possibly answer that Anne, but I very much doubt anyone whose opinion is motivated by race would own up to it anyway. Racists tend to be cowards. (And no, I'm not accusing anybody)
Yes Webbo, but you asked why she glamorised it, or did you mean glamorising violence?
