The Canaries have some very nice spots but like all holiday destinations, there are good parts, not-so-good parts and bloody awful parts. Even within a single town there are some parts I'd visit and some I'd giver a wide berth. I've not been to Tenerife, but have visited Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria and always had a good time. You just need to know where to go.

Local artist César Manrique had a major influence on the tourist development programme of the island and there are no other buildings more than 3 stories high, buildings must be white, or beige and the doors and windows must be green, blue or black.

I've been going to the same place in Tenerife for the last 26 years, we go to a place called Puerto de Santiago, it has gotten slightly busier over the years but there are no time share touts or gangs of yobs, its a very family friendly part of the island, i did go to Las Americas when I was 17(a longgg) time a go and had a good time but wouldn't go there now.
Just checked, and nope, had no plans to visit Germany in the near future. My parent's generation did that despite being told by the teutonic people that it was not possible. Meanwhile millions of "visitors" with no health records, job skills that are a ready fit for the economy, criminal record checks, age scrutiny, border checks or passport requirements are apparently willkommen no kvestions asked.

Germany is a lovely country - I’ve been there a lot over the years and will definitely be going back, when I’m allowed, and they’re wonderful people, and contrary to the perception, they have a great sense of humour.
I had a German girlfriend in the 90s for a few years, and she showed me some lovely places off the beaten track.
