When i was on Yahoo Answers they used an annoying spelling corrector that underlines some words which were the correct British spelling, and AnswerBank is also doing it. Anyone else irritated by this ?.
William if you go into your browser settings by clicking the the dots in the top right, and search for language, you can change the spell checker to UK English instead of US. If you let us know which browser it is, e.g. Chrome, Edge we can give more info if needed.
are you saying that if i put in a word that's spelled incorrectly it will unline it as incorrect, because on my laptop that doesn't happen, the spellchecker obviously is on because it corrects my spelling mistakes in letters and e mails.
it is emmie for me anyhow
it underlines any incorrectly spelt word
and right clicking the mouse offers "correct" alternatives
it is up to me to choose to use them or not
it only will underline on my e mails, and letters i type, i don't know why but im sure chris said there was no specific spellchecker for AB.
i would prefer if it did have a underline facility, because my typing isn't great, so im careful on what i type on AB.
@emmie - if you right click in the 'Your Answer...' box is there a 'Check spelling >' item in the pop-up menu? If there is, what options does it show? Mine has 'English (United Kingdom) selected and 'Check spelling when entering text' ticked.
First thing i do when i get a new piece of tech is turn off spellcheck grammar check if there is one, and predictive text. There may be separate ones for emails, texts, browser and apps like word processing as people may prefer different settings depending on what they are doing.
