....and why is he not banned from driving for life?
I remember this event very clearly as I live close to Camperdown Park. Think you'll find he was sentenced to 6 years. While many may think this is not enough, nothing will bring his friend back and he must live with this for the rest of his life. Illustrates how one reckless act can change many lives forever.
If he was so far over the limit I wonder why his friend got into the car?

maggie, yes 6 years, he'll do 3.
I think the jail time is probably enough, my reason being qlong the lines of Naomis post.

However I think something has to be done over the licence issue. Should be minimum 20 years ban and then annual application submitting for drugs test. (Test the hair)

Maybe his friend was in the same state.
I'm not so sure he was in aright state, just not fit to drive.
TTT, there is no automatic right to release half way through a six year sentence. He can be considered for parole at the half way stage but there is no guarantee he will get it.
No. He should have got ten years.
