The following is edited from something I posted elsewhere a little while ago.

Anything that determines acceptance or rejection on grounds of ethnicity is racist. Now major companies, having openly declared their intention to increase ‘diversity’ are making concerted efforts to award jobs using that as their criteria. That is racist.

Those who are shouting the loudest may be interested to see that poor white children are also being overlooked in favour of ethnic minorities - but they might not. That could be just a little bit too realistic for comfort.

You say you want equality, so tell me what benefits others enjoy that you don’t. Who do you want equality with, SP? The white people who are being side-lined for jobs - not because they aren’t good enough but because they don’t fit the racist criteria - or the poor children accused of enjoying ‘white privilege’ who are, for that reason, being neglected.

No it isn't.

Yes it is. Your first posted suggested that ‘taking the knee’ encouraged camaraderie, without which they may not have reached the final - the second that camaraderie encouraged ‘taking the knee’. You can't have it both ways. That's a direct contradiction.

oh god yes, I was forgetting that white people are the real victims of racism. Every penny that goes to a BAME person could have kept a white child from starvation.

My first post suggested nothing of the sort. If you inferred it that way, that's up to you. To my mind, it's pretty obvious that first comes the camaraderie, then comes the actions that demonstrate the camaraderie. You can't "manufacture" camaraderie through an action that people don't support.

Today is a perfect example of the problem with racism in football. Several black England players are receiving severe racist abuse. How do you think the team members should support each other?

* Keep their mouths shut?
* Say "Oooh how terrible" when interviewed about it?
* Post "Oooh how terrible, please don't do that" on social media?
* Continue taking the knee to demonstrate their disdain for racism?

It really doesn't matter what you (or I) think they should do. They've chosen to take the knee, and as long as players suffer racism I expect they'll continue to do that.

* the team shows great team spirit and camaraderie
* they recognise that racism is a perpetual problem in football
* they keep taking the knee to demonstrate their ongoing disdain for that perpetual problem
