// lots of people out of the Olympics // indeed. i guess the point of raising this is that Ms Hubbard's exit postpones an inevitable argument......

He’s not a woman, NTKP. That’s the truth.
i would have thought this proves that there is no advantage of having formerly been a man, and will open up the competition to more TG people. Im surprised you are relieved they lost SR
In your world. Sure...

However in the Olympics they were considered woman enough to compete in the women's +87kg weightlifting.

That's from Olympic officials abiding by Olympic rules. The top tier standard of world wide sports.

Their opinion has more gravity than your online opinion.

Phew because as mushroom said ' Ms Hubbard's exit postpones an inevitable argument......'

Some of you could start an argument in a monastery. Play the ball, not the man.

Ah, I get it now. You all assumed that I just wanted her to lose because I dislike transgender people.
a) you couldn't be more wrong.
b) ironically, you are just showing up your own narrow mindedness and prejudices.
i assumed you wanted her to lose because you dont think transgender people should have an advantage by competing against women who have always been women, however the loss has just proved that they dont
"Ah, I get it now. You all assumed that I just wanted her to lose because I dislike transgender people."

There are two reasons why you might "phew". This would be a social reason because of Transgenders placement in the Olympics / society OR because you're glad New Zealand didn't win (because you want Team GB to win).

That is why I asked on page one.

Give over Spicerack. We're not thick.
"Phew because as mushroom said ' Ms Hubbard's exit postpones an inevitable argument"

The IOC updated rules in 2015 for trans athletes if testosterone is below certain levels. NZ officials say: "We have a strong culture of inclusion and respect for all".

Therefore there is zero argument.
Naomi - //You call him what you like and I’m not trying to pick a fight//

Then don't pull people up on what pronoun the chose to use in describing the athlete.

//Look at him!//

Look at the lifters born female. None of them would look out of place in the Lions' scrum.
Spicerack - // Ah, I get it now. You all assumed that I just wanted her to lose because I dislike transgender people.

People can only work with what they are given - in this instance, a link a 'Phew'.

Most people are going to assume one of two approaches, possibly both, and you blaming other people for their 'misunderstanding' of your view is inaccurate, the responsibility for that is entirely yours.

OK - given that you led to a very obvious and clear 'misdirection' of your view - perhaps you'd care to expand on exactly what 'Phew' means in this context.
Mozz, I haven’t pulled anyone up. Read more before getting on your high horse. It’s lame - again.
Naomi24 how would you have liked us to interoperate this comment from yourself; "She? This nonsensical wokery really is pathetic. Look at him!"?

If this is not an example of you pulling up pronouns then please explain what this comment was about.
Naomi, in response to Mamya's use of "She" - //She? This nonsensical wokery really is pathetic. Look at him!//

My horse may be lame, but it's got a way to go before it's as lame as your rather pathetic backtracking. I thought you were better than that, but you're proving me wrong on that belief.

This doesn't prove that transgender athletes don't have an advantage in women's sport. Laurel has form for early exits.
Anyway an early exit means nothing.
However, if she had won by a wide margin it would have been used as proof that they do.
And, yes. thank you, bednobs. I did actually, believe it or not, have enough intelligence to realise that a win would have suited my previous argument better.
But at least you've pointed it out to the hard of thinking on here.
So what exactly did you mean by "Phew." in your OP, Spicerack ?
"Some of you could start an argument in a monastery. Play the ball, not the man. " - that's very good!
Mozz, no backtracking from me. He’s a bloke.
mozz: "look at the lifters born female. None of them would look out of place in the Lions' scrum. " - they would last 3 seconds me old china!
"This doesn't prove that transgender athletes don't have an advantage in women's sport."

Just because someone is a male it doesn't mean they can just beat women on an Olympic level of sport. it wouldn't just take a transgender athlete to have an advantage. It would take a true Olympian who is better at the sport to have an advantage.

Top male athletes may (may) beat top female athletes but the top trans athletes I think we've just witnessed may come close but they don't take the win over top female athletes. That's just facts.
naomi - // Mozz, no backtracking from me. He’s a bloke. //

How do you know - have you looked?
