'Remarkably Childish': Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson has been branded “remarkably childish” after the prime minister name-checked Kermit the Frog in a speech about climate change.

Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York, Johnson was talking about technological breakthroughs which have aided the green cause when he launched into an aside about the Muppet character.

He said: “When Kermit the Frog sang ‘it’s not easy being green’…”

Looking up at his audience, the PM, apparently uneasy, asked: “Do you remember that one?”
He continued: “I want you to know that he was wrong. He was wrong. It is easy, not only easy – it is lucrative and it’s right to be green.

“But he was also unnecessarily rude to Miss Piggy, I thought.”

Did he think he was in his child's nursery rather than at the UN General Assembly? World Leader? What a joke.

Hard to know who is the more deluded in this analysis, probably Johnson, spouting as much fantasy as Obama did.

Still Boris could not give genuine, true action that would help AND will come about eventually anyway (perhaps sooner than many would be 'comfortable' with (; ¤ ].... like giving up the car, having one child less, no air tourism and that old hate - eating a plant based diet... unfortunately that, realistically, would just be the starters before the main course...

Now I am no fan of Johnson but I cant see the problem.
Just been watching the video Maggie , I just can not believe what the idiot said.
//rude to Miss Piggy...//

Sounds more like David Cameron's (alleged) deeds.

As for folk gnashing teeth about Boris mentioning Kermit, sounds to me as if they're looking for any excuse to have a dig at Boris. They should wait until he actually does something wrong. Knowing Boris, it won't be long.
gully supports you maggie, the final nail in the coffin! PMSL!
He can’t believe it because he probably doesn’t understand it, TTT. Forrin you know … well a bit forrin.
I'm not saying anything bad about Gully. Don't want the thread deleted. :-p
Haha Mozz, spot on
Like oblivious, naive lambs to the slaughter.

The Big Green Lie, and either they don't know it, or don't want to know it.

"And what the current British crisis is giving us a foretaste of is the true future of a renewable energy economy: an economy that will sustain no more than 600,000,000 people worldwide and that will require three or four agricultural workers – including slaves and indentured servants – to maintain each non-agricultural specialist, cleric or overlord. Indeed, the very best our descendants can look forward to is a technological level similar to that of the Roman Empire."

He misjudged the audience. He came across as foolish when we need serious statemen and women to tackle the climate crisis.

Not jokers.
sevenOP

Do you believe that the climate crisis is made up?
sp814 : "sevenOP ,Do you believe that the climate crisis is made up?"

I am not sure why you are asking that, sp, did you not read the Link?

The Big Green Lie is not the lie of climate change, but the Green Lie they are claiming that WILL get us out of catastrophic climate damage.
SevenOP

NO - I didn’t read the link. I didn’t have time.

I’m more interested in what you think.

Do you accept there’s a climate crisis and if so - what can we do to avert the worst of it?
> Boris Johnson has been branded “remarkably childish”

That's hardly "News", is it?

What's green and stinks of pork? No, nothing to do with Kermit, you filthy people, it's .... eco-friendly Foreign Secretary Liz Truss!

// He can’t believe it because he probably doesn’t understand it, TTT. Forrin you know ///

wrong kind of forrin .... yup only on AB !
But only a bit forrin, PP.
sp1814,
I am not naive enough to be 'Overton-ed' nor blindsided into believing that climate change is thee thing,,, that is just ONE facet of the environmental disaster that we are speeding increasingly towards.

My post @ 13:05 Fri 24th Sep 2021 gave some suggestions on what we/us/me and you can do to mitigate this probably inevitable disaster now, but even those 4 actions are insignificant if those with the power continue the charades like IPCC, The Paris Agreement,The Kyoto Protocol, and probably the COPD26 - Conference of the Platitudes.

sp, here is 3 minutes 38 seconds worth of 'what WE can do'.... if that is not too pressing on your time... (; ¿¿
