'Remarkably Childish': Boris Johnson
Boris Johnson has been branded “remarkably childish” after the prime minister name-checked Kermit the Frog in a speech about climate change.
Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York, Johnson was talking about technological breakthroughs which have aided the green cause when he launched into an aside about the Muppet character.
He said: “When Kermit the Frog sang ‘it’s not easy being green’…”
Looking up at his audience, the PM, apparently uneasy, asked: “Do you remember that one?”
He continued: “I want you to know that he was wrong. He was wrong. It is easy, not only easy – it is lucrative and it’s right to be green.
“But he was also unnecessarily rude to Miss Piggy, I thought.”
Did he think he was in his child's nursery rather than at the UN General Assembly? World Leader? What a joke.

If posts or threads are 'zeroed' as you quaintly put it - it is not because they don't toe some imaginary line.
How many times do you need to be told this - or are you just being provocative for the sake of it.

I don't believe that humour has any place in a speech about such an important issue.
Add to that the fact that politicians should leave humour to people who know what it is, what their audience is, and how to deliver a line effectively - and Boris ticks none of those boxes here.
Referencing a humourless kids show that last aired on British television forty years ago is not likely to chime with your target audience Boris, so your 'joke', as dreadful as it was, is likely to be meaningless to the people listening to you anyway.
Put it down to bad judgement, mis-reading your target audience, and not realising that you are the Prime Minister, addressing an international conference, not appearing part way down the bill at a workingmen's club.

You are implying that you know what PP was referring to, andy.... perhaps unwise with a character as complex as PP.
My 'guess' on what PP was going on about was the anomalously statistically high sporadic symbiotic echo chamber/drivel bombardment support(?) or random out of the woodwork activity that effectively kills the thread, without actual Moderator/Editor removal.

Rather staid on humour, yet a surprising comment overall recognizing your previous skepticism on the subject matter.
You appear oblivious to the charade, both at the UN and soon to be parodied on at COP yir whack fur these 26 Lies. (some Green flavoured)
Perhaps Boris attempt at humour in his speech was to mock us (the Public) to some in-the-know crowd, or, as some conspiracists purport "revelation of the method". [;

Not at all.
It doesn't matter which post or thread PP was referring to, any removals are done for contravention of Site Rules and nothing else.
PP is one of a hard-core of regulars who like to darkly suggest hidden agendas where absolutely none exist, and I am delighted to challenge each and every instance I see - as I have done here.
Quite why you think it 'unwise' for me to puncture PP's paranoid nonsense yet again, I have absolutely no idea.
As for calling him 'complex' - that's not an adjective that springs to mind when I think about him!!

I have no idea why you would reach such a conclusion based on what I have posted on this thread.
I am fully aware that if the UK became carbon neutral in the morning, the net result in the proposed effect of indistrialisation would be zero, as long as China continues to build and equip coal-fired power stations at its current rate of roughly one every seven days.

It is evident from your posts in this thread and previous posts on this forum that your self-rightousness rivals PP's[perhaps mine appears so too]... which I have no intention "to puncture".
Just because a hard-core regular, in your opinion, cries wolf does not mean that there will never be a wolf there EVERY time it is cried; that, is an unwise assumption.
"I have no idea why you would reach such a conclusion based on what I have posted on this thread."
I am convinced that you genuinely "have no idea" andy, as you clearly see, and quote, only those parts of my comment(s) in a very narrowed context, analogous to your blinkered view of 'the evidence' of the environmental crisis that either conforms or reinforces your mindset on subjects, or, with what you are genuinely, limitedly aware of.(which your final China prime-mover pargraph exemplifies... along with, "yet a surprising comment overall recognizing your previous skepticism on the subject matter" gets 'narrowed' in your mind to "I have no idea why you would reach such a conclusion based on what I have posted on this thread."
But I realise you and PP both bring some much needed balance to many threads, which is both greatly needed, and genuinely appreciated.

It is ridiculous to suggest the fuel shortage is due to brexit. The only reason for the shortage is because the fuel that was sitting in the tanks of thousands of stations last weekend, when people were filling their vehicles normally is now sitting in thousands of tanks and jerry cans. In other words most of the country drivers have now transferred most of the fuel to sit in their tanks and other receptacles, "just in case". It's toilet tissue tantrums all over again.

Part of the reason is due to Brexit. Certainly not the whole reason, but Brexit is a contributing factor. European driver salaries are generally higher than in Britain and new EU rules have improved their working conditions - apparently "billions of euros have been offered to fund parking areas and support companies".
That's from Marco Digioia, the head of the European Road Haulers Association.
He went on to say:
"Tempting European drivers back to the UK when they also have to face the reality of customs and border checks, all the uncertainties of Brexit … We have to be realistic.”
I think he should know...

god you mean SOME of the removals/deletions have a reason behind them and are not completely random? [thx to Kafka]
No I am referring to whole sale removals on the bidding of some who scream "I am being harassed!" whereas it is just an issue of disagreement.
I am referring to the habit of skewering those criticising and stigmatising anti-vaxxers ( perhaps by calling them deranged rabid baby killers) - and leaving their anti vaxxer cant. Thus implying AB supports anti-vax rubbish because now there is no comment contra
I am referring to the idea that deletions on AB ar perhaps not as logical, saintly even handed and without fear or favour as another ( perhaps a mod) insists

"Pollution scandal firms sponsor COP26 conference in Glasgow as activists slam UK Government
Campaigners have accused the UK Government – which is hosting the talks – of facilitating corporate “greenwashing” and reducing the chances of tackling catastrophic global warming by allowing big business influence."
As though the problem could even be begun to be being solved, without involving 'big business', which provides our bread and circuses.
Don't mention nation states, or religious and political ideological difficulties... or greed, or (alleged) human nature, or vested interests,............ ¬->>>>>
