Why The Panic From Boris?
Just read on the BBC website:
"The South African doctor who treated early cases of the Omicron variant told the BBC countries could be "panicking unnecessarily" and the symptoms she had seen were "extremely mild".
Dr Angelique Coetzee, chair of the South African Medical Association, said she had first encountered the variant in patients who had fatigue, aches and pains, but no cough or change in sense of smell or taste. "We haven't admitted anyone," she said."
Enough said so why is Boris running around like a headless chicken and imposing stupid restrictions?

Well, it gets on my pip, lottie. Silly little people who know nothing picking petty holes at every opportunity. If Boris had ignored this new strain and done nothing he’d have been wrong then too. He’s taking advice from the experts and is doing what they tell him is right so just put a friggin’ sock in it and do as he asks.

The government were rightly criticized for acting to slow with the first lockdown and then failing to do a circuit break. There not going to want to be too slow again. better to be cautious now and then loosen things if the problem is not as great.
Not sure which party you support diddlydo but I don't hear Kier or zliberals or Nicola or Mark D saying his over reacting. They say he's should of done this sooner and kept things abit tighter in last few months like wales Scotland and NI.

That's quite true and incredible as it may seem, I agree. But that's because the PM and the government seem unable to shake themselves away from the idea that the spread of this (or any other) virus can be controlled. It can - if they keep everybody indoors - by force if necessary - 24/7. That just leaves the small problem of how the country is to continue functioning so I think that even the most ardent of lockdown enthusiasts must accept that this is impractical. These other measures are simply peeing in the wind, they annoy many people (which makes them less likely to comply) and achieve little or nothing.
For so long as the notion that the spread of a virus can be controlled holds sway then these perpetual threats and actions will continue. Since the virus will be here for years or decades there needs to be a proper debate, which should consider all the collateral damage that these measures have.

The SA medic is dealing with real Omicron cases and not getting her information second or third hand. So to dismiss her because she is a woman or African is clearly daft.
The data is being share, and Omicron is cropping up all over world, so we will soon know what we are dealing with. Whether it is being over hyped as mega deadly, or not.
