I’m not saying he shouldn’t - just that in this instance I doubt too many will be feeling he no longer represents his constituents.
I can’t for the life of me tho I why he wouldn’t stand at the next election to defend his seat as sitting MP
It’s not exactly Sean Woodward hitting Witney with a Labour MP some years back and then hoofing it to St Helens or whatever

Question Author
Yes: “In the name of God, go!”

That’ll carry more weight than the others put together.

Even if it was wacky David Davis …

It seems to me most ABers who are complaining about this are referring to it as a 'drinks party'. That doesn't minimise it. Quite the opposite.
——-
It seems to me that most ABers and parliament in particular are more concerned with the lies and deceit of the clown in the highest office in the country who did not know he was at a party and now blames his entourage for not telling him about the rules he was breaking that he made himself !
Pathetic in the extreme !
You know you are having a bad time of it when even Keir Starmer gets the better of you
Are we really meant to believe he has had a seismic change in his beliefs and politics?

Surely grassroots Labour supporters would want Lucy Burke as their candidate?
Stickybottle 13:35 Wed , you lost track of the conversation there. I was responding to another post.
Roy, my thoughts too.

Not at all naomi
Just reminding you that is is about a little more than a drinks party
It is about decorum
Honesty
Integrity
Lies and deceit
Boris is struggling with some
Adept at others
His party and rank and file Tories seem to understand though
Stickybottle, //Not at all naomi //

Yes ... I was ...
Crossing the floor should always trigger a by election.

Crossing the floor should always trigger a by election.

I totally agree !
Would love to see how the public would vote if it were next week
It might be an indicator as to how the public really feel right now

As it did a few weeks ago in North Staffs ?
Red wall Labour seats went Tory in a huge protest vote. They were tired of being taken for granted and didn’t agree with Corbyn’s stupid policy on Brexit.
With Corbyn gone, Brexit done, there is no reason to vote Tory again. That new blue wall will fall because it was built on dodgy foundations.

Now, will he be an hypocrite?
———
In the current climate a Labour candidate in that seat would undoubtedly gain massively
As indeed would the Lib Dems
In fact all parties probably would bar the Tories !
Question Author
There may well be a by election who knows.
On “no reason to vote Tory again” that’s probably true. There is a school of thought that says that the “Singapore on Thames” Brexiters in the Tory party want Johnson out as Brexit under him isn’t going to go the way they they planned. They didn’t fight for deregulation only for a populist PM, who was probably only ever committed to Brexit as a career move, to come along and give away hand outs to a lot of smelly northerners :-)
Bury South is one of the most marginal seats in the country, The Conservatives have a majority of 402.

They voted Conservative for Brexit and strong leadership.
Brexit is done but seems to have delivered no positive results. Our taking back control of our own borders has coincided with a massive increase in illegal immigration.
Strong leader instead of Corbyn who was deemed to be weak. So they voted Conservative and ironically they got an incredibly poor leader.

Apparently Wakefield is a life long Tory, was a Tory councillor for donkey’s years, and after 24 months has had enough and joined the Labour benches. Happy to ignore his principles to keep his job.
It was a magnificent result for the Conservatives to win Bury South, Bury North, East Bolton, High Peak and Heywood a Middleton.
But they all have tiny majorities and MPs who are not feeling very secure in their employment.

I wonder if any more will cross the floor before 2024 ?
//Brexit is done but seems to have delivered no positive results.//

Usual Guardian reader rubbish.

Whilst I would say it hasnt delivered enough positives there are some and we certainly havnt lost the economy as predicted by the remainers. As one would have expected a dip in the economy as things adjusted it would suggest positive things have been done after Brexit.
And the positive results of Brexit have been… what?
Didnt you understand what I wrote?

For one regain of sovereignty, not that I would expect someone with your ideals to understand that.
