As one would have expected a dip in the economy as things adjusted it would suggest positive things have been done after Brexit.
——-
Happy to admit I was all for Brexit
And whilst there was obviously going to be an unsettled transition period I am struggling to notice any major benefits yet
Fingers crossed though

After some Chinese money maybe.
Sovereignty is indeed something to be welcomed.
But we have an inept Government and a disgraced Royal family. So it is a hollow victory. Our laws are again British, but mostly photocopied from the EU drafted statutes.
Question Author
“Regain of sovereignty” is conveniently vague I must say.
So we are 2 years in now but still left wondering what the positives have been so far ?
Genuine question
Asking because Boris said today economy is booming yet inflation is rising faster than wages and is expected to go higher and we have 100,000 job vacancies
Is there a turning point in the near future ?
Or will it get worse before it gets better ?
(Not just us but the whole of europe)

Being out of the EU won’t protect us from high inflation and high cost of living.

// UK inflation has risen to a near-30-year high of 5.4%, driven higher by rising prices for food, furniture, clothes and housing costs. This deepens the country’s cost of living crisis, and heaps pressure on the Bank of England to raise interest rates at its next meeting in February, following December’s surprise hike. //

EU inflation:

France 2.8%
Italy 3.9 %
Sweden 3.9%
Greece 5.1%
Ireland 5.1%

UK 5.4%

Question Author
There was one good reason for leaving the EU (and in fairness yes as good as any)
Which is that most people voted for it.
So we were left with having to bring something about which fundamentally was not a great idea and which no two people seemed to know what it meant in practice
Webbo3
That is out of date.
EU average 5.2%.
UK 5.4%

I guess a week (or three) is a long time in politics ! Lol

The rates across EU vary. Large population countries like France, Italy and Portugal have lower rates than the UK.
The smaller former iron curtain countries such as Lithuania have very high inflation rates.

The point is, being outside the EU doesn’t really protect us from high inflation. France has half our rate.
France's inflation is in part protected from their energy exposure what with nuclear tricity making up a [ far] larger percentage of their fuel bill than ours here in the UK.....
Webbo3
Your link is from November. UK rate then 5.1% EU average then 5.2%. Today we are 5.4%.
Question Author
The Tories are way behind in almost all the so called red wall seats. That alone would wipe out the Tory majority and some

_____________----
Eh?

Why did you then go on to cherry-pick inflation rates from EU countries?
Gromit, I notice you left these out.

From my link

A European Central Bank breakdown of data by country shows Lithuania at the top of the pile with a staggering 9.3 percent inflation, followed by Estonia with 8.4, Belgium with 7.1 and Germany with six. On the lower side, Spain’s inflation stood at 5.6 percent and France 3.4 percent.
