Boris Won’t Apologise.
Answers
I understand the cut and thrust of political debate. However, given the recentish murders of two sitting MPs, and given the general stupidity of the population it behoves ALL MPs to take care with what they say about each other (including apologising if necessary)

// he did fail to prosecute Savile //
No he didn’t. That is not the truth, it is a lie. And also libellous.

"That Starmer had nothing 'personally' to do with decisions is a bit like saying Boris had nothing personally to do with all those in-office parties that he's subsequently become responsible for.... "
But he has admitted just that.
I don't want to start the partygate stuff yet again, but the oissue there is more Johnson's repeated economy with the truth.
I don't think Sir Keir has ever tried to claim, in relation to the Savile case, that something occurred that did not, or vice versa.
And your link about the journalists indicates that he's left the DPP by the time the Oeration Elveden prosecutions came about so Johnson's original statement is particularly unfortunate (most people don't mention the journalists: Johnson of course is a journalist)

// Starmer… failed to act on it //
Savile was never arrested. He was never charged for anything. The CPS advised that none of the claimants were prepared to go to court so a successful prosecution was unlikely. Starmer took the advice of the CPS.
Savile was guilty but no would give evidence in court against him. So that is the reason that Savile was never charged or imprisoned.

Don’t think so. It is not fair to say Starmer let Savile go when he wasn’t even arrested.
Starmer as DPP oversaw the CPS. The CPS said none of the people who made allegations about Saville were prepared to go to Court and testify against him. So a successful prosecution was impossible. That was the correct decision.
