I understand the cut and thrust of political debate. However, given the recentish murders of two sitting MPs, and given the general stupidity of the population it behoves ALL MPs to take care with what they say about each other (including apologising if necessary)

Starmer is a woodentop, charisma of a monkey, he was top man at the time of Saville being investigated but he failed to act on it, Boris has no need to apologise for speaking the truth!
Question Author
// he did fail to prosecute Savile //

No he didn’t. That is not the truth, it is a lie. And also libellous.

https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-britain-savile-idUSL1N2RP200
Of course he will not apologise

Senior aides and advisors even warned him about the incorrect use while he was considering it

He still overruled them

As he did with Mirza

This is like watching King Canute except there is nothing vaguely regal about him
"That Starmer had nothing 'personally' to do with decisions is a bit like saying Boris had nothing personally to do with all those in-office parties that he's subsequently become responsible for.... "

But he has admitted just that.
I don't want to start the partygate stuff yet again, but the oissue there is more Johnson's repeated economy with the truth.
I don't think Sir Keir has ever tried to claim, in relation to the Savile case, that something occurred that did not, or vice versa.
And your link about the journalists indicates that he's left the DPP by the time the Oeration Elveden prosecutions came about so Johnson's original statement is particularly unfortunate (most people don't mention the journalists: Johnson of course is a journalist)
'Page can't be displayed'
//indicates that he's left the DPP by the time the Oeration Elveden prosecutions //

But not when they were arrested and/or charged.

//Starmer was DPP when 30 of the 34 journalist arrested and/or charged ... //
Question Author
// Starmer… failed to act on it //

Savile was never arrested. He was never charged for anything. The CPS advised that none of the claimants were prepared to go to court so a successful prosecution was unlikely. Starmer took the advice of the CPS.

Savile was guilty but no would give evidence in court against him. So that is the reason that Savile was never charged or imprisoned.
By the police
Who also have not apologised ...
// he knows he would be guilty of slander.//

hmm - under the old law, it would be covered by 'fair comment'. I am sort of in Justice Cocklecarrot ( thx to private eye again) 's era. One Sir Oliver Popplewell

I think Mirza went because she said no dont ( use the Starmer gibe) and he said 'I gonna' and he did and off she flounced along with all the other Noah's

It's not about Starmer apologising or otherwise, Ich.

Not sure what is worse, Boris deliberately saying something he knows to be untrue, to get himself out of a hole he has dug for himself - or the sight of his fanboys trying to defend the indefensible.
excuse me readers in case any one is unclear or er confused by the incessant babble

Operation Elveden
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Elveden
was about payments to officers - Rebekah Brokks et al. 35 arrested, 5 convicted -

not really Jimmy savile territory - but hey never mind, the point scoring AB goes on ! and arn - wowser! ( thx to they shoot horses dont they?)
// Johnson of course is a journalist)//
star of the sextator scandal I seem to dimly recall

https://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/the-sextator-farce-7248831.html

someone lying politico lied: "Boris Johnson has been dismissed from his last four jobs for dishonesty..."
and this was the first
Question Author
// under the old law, it would be covered by 'fair comment'. //

Don’t think so. It is not fair to say Starmer let Savile go when he wasn’t even arrested.
Starmer as DPP oversaw the CPS. The CPS said none of the people who made allegations about Saville were prepared to go to Court and testify against him. So a successful prosecution was impossible. That was the correct decision.
May have a point sticko
Matthew Parris was in a very kissy kissy mumsie relation with Thatcher ( well the boy Mark was a dud innit?). She was told he was gay ( I am that etc)
and was told by an aide that he wd be out - chop chop ! ( geddit?)
and he was
and the rest is history - jobbing Times journo
slander - libel
words I aint read in the bible

i wd have advised him to let it go: Andrew Mitchell - "plebs you are meant to protect us etc that one" - got ding-ed for £250 000 because his solicitor made a mistake ( a day late - judge said too bad) which his frenz paid
'deliberately saying something he knows to be untrue, to get himself out of a hole'

erm.............
Question Author
// Andrew Mitchell got ding-ed for £250 000 //

Mitchell had to pay the Sun’s and the PC’s legal costs (estimated at £2millon).. And the PC counter sued and won.
Boris and his behaviour remind me of Trump. He also has fans and groupies who believe he can do no wrong.. don’t waste your time engaging with them . They are crazy….. :-)
