How are people vetted in order to be approved to house these people. I worry that some of the attractive young Ukrainian mothers with children I have seen pop up on the news, who are desperate could become targeted by men who might look to take advantage of them by offering them a home.

Noted your post on foster care. But there are a lot of older people coming here from Ukraine that will no doubt have health problems, so again will need more than a place to stay.
TCL, it's £750/week here. I very nearly did it myself, except when I did have a spare room, it wasn't on the same floor as my bedroom.
new judge is correct on many levels, we are full and public services are at breaking point, some already broke but papered over to avoid scare mongering, i do feel for the ukrainians, what thye should do is, kick out all the dinghy arrivals, send the lot back to there countries of origin asap, without recourse to the law.

Poland is full also fender62 in fact overflowing. How can we just turn a blind eye and leave them to the problem.

Yes we do have problems at home, but not on the scale of Ukraine. We are talking here of seeing children and their mum's being murdered by a nutter.
“ The ukranians shouldn't have priority over other refugees from war torn countries. ”

Of course they should
Only Ukrainians are being terrorised by a nation which frankly is out of control and a danger to the world in a way no other country on earth is
They should certainly have priority over those coming over the Channel in inflatables because France is not to their liking.
ichi; postscript to the story of my golf-friend, Wolfgang's trip to Poland with one of his coaches, he returned with it full of refugees and he & his wife have taken in three; Grandmother, daughter & her child.
Great news khandro

Lots of good people around
I disagree Ich. The zukrainians are being welcomed with open arms and rightly so, but should they be treated better than those refugees fleeing from the Taliban who who are as much much at risk. I totally agree with Bednobs and with the article contains shared. Personally, I wouldn't share my home with strangers of any kind but I do see aclotbof hypocracy in this situation.
The article Chris Shared.

And I am not talking about the masses of economic migrants, im talking about genuine refugees.
Well I'm really proud that my eldest granddaughter and her husband have offered to take some. BEFORE the money was offered as I said on here at the time. They still have not had a response from the charity.

I think it's good that genuine kind people are taking them in Ladybirder. You have reason to be proud. All I am saying is that there are other refugees in similar positions and this generosity or offer of money to hosts has not been extended to them. Yes Putin is evil but so is the Taliban, and if people are fleeing to keep themselves alive then they are all just as vulnerable. The rules and regulations should apply to all.

Either take refugees into YOUR home, or don't take refugees into your home, but I suggest you don't try to claim some form of moral high ground without doing anything at all.

Moral High ground! Don't be such an idiot Just because I don't take refugees into my home doesn't mean I do nothing at all. You don't know me or what I do or don't do charity wise. I haven't criticised anybody for taking in refugees. I probably know a lot more than many about refugees that have to flee their homeland. I married into such a family.

Those young men arriving on boats from France are not refugees, they are economic migrants trying to get here illegally, a world of difference from those families trying to get to escape war torn Ukraine.
dave, you beat me to it. pat, there is no comparison between either the people or the countries. The refugees from Ukraine are all women & children fleeing from the threat of death, they are part of the European family & have a shared history & Christian culture.

The Afghans are predominantly young men from a Muslim culture seeking to better their lives but pretending that they are feeing persecution.

You suggest that they should taken in to (other peoples) British homes, & on top of which the British tax payers should support them -- & you think I'M an idiot .

If these young Afghan men had half the spirit of their young Ukrainian counterparts, the Taliban would have been long gone.
I repeat
/And I am not talking about the masses of economic migrants, im talking about genuine refugees./

SoDave stop going on about young men on boats coming across the channel.

I have made it clear that I thinking about genuine refugees fleeing for their lives from persecution anywhere. What religion or continent they are from doesn't matter.

All I am saying are all genuine refugees should be treated the same.

I don't have a religion. I think we are all equal.

I thought Christianity supported that value!!

I also support the views New Judge. This country hasn't the infrastructure to support a huge wave of refugees.
