Robert Powell on Sky sums it up.

The real political peril for the prime minister now is not really about what he did; but rather what he knew and said.
Asked directly in the House of Commons whether there were any parties in Downing Street on 13 November 2020, Mr Johnson was explicit: "No, but I'm sure whatever happened the guidance... and the rules were followed at all times."
It is very hard to reconcile that answer with these photos.
The big risk for the PM now is the full Sue Gray report may throw up more mismatches of this sort.

It seems that the pictorial evidence will be the main focus then.
Given that ITV, the source of the pictures is not a newspaper it seems odd that they haven’t published all of or the most damning ones just yet as a tabloid might do over the course of a week in order to generate sales. When will the Sue Grey report be published? I thought it was already complete but read earlier that it was being finalised? Surely it was complete when the Metropolitan Police began their investigations?
Or has the recent hastily arranged meeting between her and the Prime Minister necessitated changes?
Any ideas?
And this ...

What amazes me is that there's been nothing about these 'parties' in the media, and absolutely no-one has made a fuss about it (for personal gain or political advantage) before now. When we all thought there was no interesting news, an old photo of Boris enjoying a glass of wine emerges. Amazing.
great avatar spungle.
the irony is that it's probably the Labour leader who will end up resigning! I can't wait!
well, Boris would certainly have been amazed, having no doubt thought he was at a work meeting or something of the sort. "You mean that thing in my hand was a drink? That swine Cummings must have put it there when I wasn't looking."
I don’t follow, Spungle.
Are you saying that because the picture is 18 months old that it has little relevance and that everyone needs to move on? I’m just curious.
All great Prime Ministers have enjoyed a tipple when times were tough. They didn't bow down to fake leftwing outrage or a rabid media, but got on with the tough job of running the country. Boris kept this country going during the pandemic; the whining bunch pretending to be astounded that he could stoop so low as to enjoy a bit of wine on the job need to grow a pair.
Yes, fatticus, that's exactly what I'm saying. Thankyou for your interest. Don't you think the country has better things to be getting on with?
It's not the parties, it's the lies about the parties. Let your leaders get away with lying to the people, and see where it ends up ...

For example here:

> "We have been left no other option to protect Russia and our people, but for the one that we will be forced to use today. The situation requires us to take decisive and immediate action. The people's republics of Donbas turned to Russia with a request for help. ... In this regard, in accordance with Article 51 of Part 7 of the UN Charter, with the sanction of the Federation Council of Russia and in pursuance of the treaties of friendship and mutual assistance ratified by the Federal Assembly on 22 February of this year with the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic, I have decided to conduct a special military operation."
All great Prime Ministers have enjoyed a tipple when times were tough.
er
yes but this is about law-breaking....
Oh I see. Lucky for us then that he’s not a great Prime Minister.
Not sure this has anything to do with the left though, I reckon it’s more about a sitting Prime Minister lying about parties and misleading parliament about it. If he’s not worried then what made him approach Sue Grey but was even sketchy about that when Downing Street were asked about who contacted whom first?
It seems there are lots more questions to be answered, not least the response and investigation by the Metropolitan Police that now looks at the very least to be shoddy and hardly thorough and positively questionable bordering on corrupt.
Regardless of what happens about that I’m sure the parliamentary panel looking into all this will question the Prime Minister directly, not via a questionnaire and will absolutely be far more transparent and thorough than a Metropolitan Police detective.
> Boris kept this country going during the pandemic

No, we were locked down, which doesn't add up when you look at what they were all getting up to, and the fact (is it a fact? how do we know?) that Boris was not long out of hospital after a near-death experience with Covid-19. Something really stinks about all of this. Downing Street's behaviour, while at the same putting out posters like the one tweeted by Steve Baker (MP of Tory ERG fame) ...

... was enough to imply that people could freely mix after all. If that was the case, why on earth was lockdown imposed, at the massive cost that we're now starting to pay for?
Yes Spungle, the country does have important things to be dealing with.
The problem is we need them to be addressed and and tackled by a government we can trust, who have a sense of duty, integrity and real purpose.
Maybe you need to direct your questions to the parliamentary standards committee that are looking into the Prime Minister’s conduct as a matter of urgency.
After all, Conservative MPs were given a free vote about that and even they too decided that the Prime Minister must face rigorous scrutiny by them and rightly so.
Or do you not agree that government are accountable to the public for their actions?
I’m new here but looking at the avatar pictures of some of the users I have to ask if some have different personas from the same account?
Is that possible on this site? Are Spungle and ToraToraTora the same user?
