You’re missing one glaring fact, Paul.
Keir Starmer has already said he will resign if given a fine. That’s out of a sense of duty and honour I’d imagine?
He’s never denied being there and despite this will still resign if sanctioned by the Police.
The Prime Minister has been sketchy about the details every time he’s been questioned.
We went from no party to yes, there was a party but all guidelines were followed to several parties with over 120 fines issued.
Each time the Prime Minister has been a mixture of denial, puzzlement, selective memory loss or used sloping shoulders and let responsibility fall into his juniors and entourage.
Like any Police investigation it usually relies on the forensics to provide the telling evidence.
It seems the emails and pictures surrounding all this will show the Prime Minister to be an outright liar who has misled parliament about it too. His actions recently have only exacerbated matters further. His line all along has been to wait for the Sue Gray report.
What made him decide he needed to arrange a clandestine meeting very recently with the supposed impartial author of the report?
Are these the actions of an honourable man with nothing to hide?
You can spin it in as many directions as you like, his interference in the imminently pending report look questionable and highly suspicious.
The fact that some in the pictures released have been fined but not the Prime Minister on this occasion now make it look like the Metropolitan Police are in reality the Keystone Cops or have certainly been influenced in some way. That is almost certainly how the public will see it and the media will ask a lot more questions about the Prime Minister’s conduct and demeanour throughout.
One thing is certain, Margaret Thatcher would not have allowed a person like Boris Johnson anywhere near a Cabinet position when she was Prime Minister.
Like or loathe her, she had a sense of honour, duty and integrity and was a decent Prime Minister who carried and lived up to the gravitas of that office. She’d spin in her grave at the actions and behaviour of the current resident of Number 10.
