What Would Be Your Priority

Whenever there's a battle for becoming PM from either parties, the main tool in the box always seems to be Tax cuts.

Unless I've missed it, I've not heard anyone yet mention the awful state the NHS is in at the moment. More importantly the number of people that must be suffering because they can't get treatment anytime soon.
So my priority would be the NHS.

Unless you're a member of the Conservative party you are not going to be given a say in who the next leader will be. All the time allocated to current affairs programmes is a complete waste of time for most people; their opinions count for nothing.

So lets put it like this, you are a member, and your running to be PM. Even during elections the main tool is Tax cuts. I'm not really on about current affairs waffle.

Everything is important and should be going on in parallel but if you want some sort of priority order, I'd suggest something like ...

1) The current and pending cost of living crisis and what it's going to take to deal with that (tax cuts come into it but they're not the only way, perhaps not even a good way. Trade policy and use of migrant labour also come into it, for example.)
2) NHS/adult care and education/childcare
3) Brexit, sorting out Northern Ireland and the state of the union generally
4) Defence, police and foreign policy
5) Transport, food and environment

Climate change is by far the most urgent crises facing the country

climate change may be urgent but it's seen as just the opposite: something we can ignore and let our children sort out. (They'll be grateful, I'm sure.)

But the cost of living affects everyone directly.

Realistically, nobody is going to be made Tory leader right now because they put the climate first. In an ideal world, though, every single policy would have a climate impact assessment / minimisation component to it, no matter who the leader...

Climate change is a world problem, not just here, and without others on board... a waste of time.

We can't wait for everyone else to deal with it before we do. That's not world leadership, it's sheep-like capitulation. Now we have Brexit, why not put tariffs on any imports that have a high environmental cost ... for example of what a leadership candidate might say.

The trouble is NHS spending is still running at about 50% above prepandamic levels. I read it's something g like 170 billion a year .. that's about £6000 per family...so how much do's it need to get it right. Maybe it's just beyondd rrpair

Climate change? Russia, China, India, Brazil and a few more couldn't careless, so we are flogging a dead horse.

Pimply; that's defeatist. I think we should do whatever we can to minimise our reliance on unsustainable practices and use of fossil fuels. If we decide to ignore the scientific consensus then we are condemning future generations to bad, bad times.
