How can we trust any of you?

Biased as I am, Tugendhat answered best in my mind.

Tugendhat the only one of the candidates to be clapped for being honest enough to confirm when asked that Johnson was dishonest.
As I’ve said, the Tory party need to be very careful about whether they choose a new face or one from the cabinet as they head towards the next GE.

I disagree. Tugenhad comes across as not confident with his own answers. Kemi Badenoch Is out of her depth. Rishi struggled with the Boris loyalty question. Liz Truss is doing OK but for me Penny Mordant appears to be the most confident and is putting her pitch across really well.

You must be watching something else emeritus, they’ve all got over some decent points(bar Truss thus far) but Tugendhat has had the best audience response, that’s obvious.

Tugendhat Is trying too hard to be controversial, and saying what he thinks the audience wants to hear, but without any substance.

I simply don't understand why these candidates are making a "pitch" to the electorate-at-large (or why the TV companies should give them the opportunity). Only 358 people have a say at this stage of the election. The process to get them down to two candidates could be achieved in an afternoon, even allowing for the ridiculous method adopted to do so. After that just about 200,000 people will have a vote in the run-off.

This is not "Strictly Come Dancing" or some other sort of Saturday night TV fodder. The electorate will have its say on the merits of the new Prime Minister in a couple of years time and there is simply no need to trouble them now.

It also gives MPs a bit more info about the candidates' views and how they come across under questioning.

I agree wholeheartedly, NJ. On BBC2, First Night of the Proms - Verdi's Requiem - is much better watching for at least 99% of the population.

I’d reason that the audience are enjoying hearing a bit of truth from an MP for once.

A good point, but I can't imagine too many doing that. The vast majority of the population has no idea who their MP is, let alone how to contact him or her.

If they want that they should arrange their own "Question Time".

2 of those 5 will be facing voting from their members so I suppose using C4 to get views across is as cheap a way as others. I can't imagine Rishi slamming his first on a tabletop to emphasize any point, seems a greasy fellow to me

Public interest, the unprecedented way the last Prime Minister lost power, the spectacle of a damned liar - - - - lying damnably ! ( that is Boris by the way , in case there are any other judges reading)

Truss and Badenoch appeared to gang up on her on the question of Self ID. Badenoch said when she took over the post, the policy was heading for Self ID, so she reversed it. Mordaunt disagreed but Truss backed Badenoch up. Much to Mordaunt's annoyance.
