What has struck the most with the five candidates is how uninspiring, how, bland, mechanical and boring they are. I haven't, yet, heard an interesting idea nor have I heard any sense of humour. Surely one of them must have one interesting idea, or something to make us smile.

I was out of the country on business for that one. On the flight on the way home, the pilot announced the result of the election and there was a collective gasp and then silence for a few seconds and then a few cheers and moans as you might expect. I guess most people had gone away were expecting a Labour victory and come back to a Tory one. A mix of Major really pulling it out of the bag and Kinnock blowing it.

I'd be quite happy with a bland and boring PM with a good work ethic and a functioning moral compass that commands the respect of their peers.

I'm sick of these 'larger than life characters' who 'aren't like other politicians' and 'tell it like it is'. As if any of that qualifies someone to run a country.

I completely agree tomus... people treat politics like show business.
