What has struck the most with the five candidates is how uninspiring, how, bland, mechanical and boring they are. I haven't, yet, heard an interesting idea nor have I heard any sense of humour. Surely one of them must have one interesting idea, or something to make us smile.

There is nothing for them to smile about, let alone us!!!!
One can cry though.

They don't have to impress you ... yet.
You haven't got a vote.
They all stood for leader; of course they have a sense of humour.

Mind you, they'll need to impress someone soon.
Should call it “Who gets to keeps the wall paper boris so dear for “ Or will the old paper scraper be out .
It's beginning to look as those who think they can run this country are the very people who shouldn't have put their name forward.
It says a lot about the current Tory party that two of the decent candidates - Javid and Hunt - hardly hit a look in and a third Tugendhat - is barely hanging in
Boris surrounded himself with toady’s, arselickers and people without any talent. So what is left is
very uninspiring and boring.
better get used to it, one of them is going to be your PM.
What do you want them to do?
Watching the tv debate and I’m liking Tom Tugendhat and hope he moves up
I wonder if many feel as I do that the PM should be chosen by ejected MPs and not by an unelected minority of the people who happen to be members of the party.
These TV debates feel mildly insulting.
All can watch but few can choose.
Elected MPs (sigh)
"All can watch but few can choose."

If it's restricted to only those who are Tory MPs, that would mean that even fewer get to choose.

It is an election to decide who replaces the former leader of the Tory party who also happens to be the current PM.

If the leader were not the PM, the same process would be used so it makes sense to allow Party members to choose their new leader from two candidates.
I dont agree.
The MPs may be fewer in number but they’re elected.
At the last election the country decided the Tories should be the ruling party with Boris Johnson as PM. BJ may be going but rightfully the Tories are still the ruling party so the people who were elected to that should chose their new boss. We don’t have a presidential system.
And this isn’t really about electing a party leader. If it was then fair enough.
The fact that they get paraded on tv just adds insult to injury. It’s prime time television for an unrepresentative and very small section of the electorate.
Well for a start anyone who is like by the liberal left on here is clearly not the right person for the Tories.

We need someone who is a Conservative, with proper Conservative views. Hence my favourite is Kemi.
I watched Sunak and immediately thought of Tony Blair, his mannerisms ,his delivery etc, ( shudder)
I disagree with all Badenoch’s politics but she performed best in the debates in my opinion… does not necessarily mean she would make a good PM though which is rather the problem with these debates :P

i thought the same bobbisox especially with his contrived soundbites…. it is deliberate I’m sure
“ Well for a start anyone who is like by the liberal left on here is clearly not the right person for the Tories.”

do you believe in anything except being anti-left?
