He didn't claim to have met Nelson Mandela. In his speech, he said,
"It is an honor to join you all on Nelson Mandela International Day. Having spent time with many of Mandela's family members over the years, I speak to you today with humility, mindful of how much the man they loved means to so many."

Seems some aren't too impressed with him.
// ,,,the Spectator's Washington editor Amber Athey accused the Duke of "mouthing off about American politics despite a rudimentary understanding - at best - of our founding principle".
Writing in the magazine, she said: "Prince Harry, who only lives here because his wife dreams of doing animated voiceovers for Netflix, routinely opines on our Constitution with all of the British pomposity that led to the Revolutionary War.
"Newsflash: Americans do not like it when foreigners tell us what to do or how we should feel.
"And yet Prince Harry (do I even have to use his title anymore?) is too arrogant and lacking in self awareness to sit down and shut up."//

Prince Harry - like his uncle - remains utterly deaf to anyone suggesting that his utter fabulousness and hopes of the world hanging on to his pearls of wisdom, is actually a figment of his imagination, fed and fueled by people who have vested financial interests in maintaing his profile.
The reality is, the Prince is not very bright, he has less than a working knowledge of world politics and affairs, and his pronouncements simply underline his redundancy in terms of media importance.
Harry refuses to accept that, as a minor and non-functioning royal, his currency is becoming depleted by the day, and his time for being invited to spout nonsense into any microphone anywhere is diminishing at a seriously rapid rate.
It's a shame that he is - again like his uncle - either not advised correctly, or he doesn't listen to advice that does not chime with his notion that his opinions are worth hearing.
Tick tick tick Harry ...
